Frederick Douglas: In Five Speeches.

On HBO Max. It's a Doc on him. They have a few actors perform his speeches. They have some historians speak about the man's life.

The readings take me back to grammar school learning about abolitionist in history class. I was still so unaware of the prejudice and injustice that was still present in U.S, as a teenager and adult things became very clear. Some of the things in his speeches hit home now, six generations later.

It's a blunt and somewhat sad reminder though we are aware of the fight for rights and equality since slavery began there still is a ways to go before minorities (and women) are truly seen and treated as equal without a bias.

We are getting there further along each day because we still have freedom of speech, the core to the country's identity. The U.S. isn't perfect but it's still the best ___ country going.

I haven’t seen this, but Narrative of Frederick Douglas, An American  Slave should be read in every freshman English class.

Edit:  $4?  A bargain.

My brother just saw it. He's a huge Batman fan, and for him this one is every bit as good as the best Nolan ones. Different reasons though. Better in terms of being a Batman film, if that makes sense

I thought it real good, but too long. I liked it went old school detective Batman. I liked the darkness in the story telling. But it could easily have been edited down to 2:20 and probably been an overall better viewing experience.

I just saw The Batman..I give it a 7 out of 10..very dark looking film, needed more light..it’s more of a detective movie than an superhero movie…Robert P. did a very good Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne if that makes sense…Zoe Kravitz was more of Batman sidekick than villian..

Just saw "The Guide," a 2014 Ukrainian film about the Soviet-incited famine in 1930's Ukraine. I found it really intense and disturbing, and also quite moving, with some parallels to the current situation. Beautiful cinematography as well.

It's playing in select theaters now and all proceeds go to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Highly recommend it.

Also recommend the "Yellowjackets" series on Showtime. Same with Dexter: New Blood, it is a fitting sequel to the original that fixes a lot of the problems with the ending. The new Halo show is rough around the edges but intriguing. And definitely watch Doom Patrol and Peacekeeper, both on HBO.

I was really disappointed in Kravitz's performance. Catwoman is one of the best comic book characters ever. So mischievous, cocky, manipulative, and yet so full of heart. Kravitz showed little of any of that. Very wooden. Which is a shame because she looks the part, almost uncannily so.

Oh, and her mask was pretty lame too.

Agree of ya! Did like the casting of Riddler though. A lot.

Moon Knight, episode 1.

Well, I'll copy paste my tweet cuz it kinda surmises it well enough;

Quote
"Another Marvel series."

+ Oscar is awesome
+ Refreshing main character
- Same slow pace again
- Doesn't push its premise far enough
- Same ol' boring Marvel cinematography

5/10

I got too excited for this one, hope it picks up in ep 2!

And some shameless self promotion.
