Not sure what to make of the G-Will trade but the fact that they attached Seth Curry + a 1st round pick for PJ Washington is kind of wild to me.

They get back a couple of seconds, but yeah, I don’t get the Washington love.

Actually, it appears they are sending a 2024 first that they have acquired from OKC. Not clear HOW they acquired it, but I'd guess they offered OKC a pick swap in exchange for a late first they could send to Washington. OKC has so many draft picks they can't make all of them anyway so the upside of a pick swap might be more valuable to them.

I have to get my abacus out for this trade deadline!

So Charlotte's team is now

G: Lowry, Seth Curry
G: LaMelo Ball, Micic
F: Brandon Miller, Caleb Martin
F: Miles Bridges, Grant Williams
C: Mark Williams, Nick Richards

Others: Tre Mann, Amari Bailey, Nick Smith Jr, Bertans

Not awful. If LaMelo could actually stay healthy. And if they kept Lowry instead of buying him out. Neither of which is likely to happen. That PG rotation starts to look real weak without Lowry.

That's a lotto team when fully healthy.

Definitely. Just not bottom of the league awful as they have been most of the year.

LeMelo can probably win a few games on his own and that rook could be good in a few years.

As I suspected, Dallas gave OKC 2028 swap rights in order to get the 2024 they sent to Washington for Gafford.

So Dallas are now

G: Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum
G: Josh Green, Jaden Hardy
F: Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway Jr
F: Derrick Jones Jr, PJ Washington
C: Derrick Lively II, Daniel Gafford

Others: Kleber, Prosper, Dwight Powell, Markieff Morris

That PF position is a weak point for the team. They need a starting quality PF to become a contender. Someone who can link their defense together like Donny Finney-Smith used to do.

I like their guard rotation. I like their 1-2 punch at center. PJ Washington is a solid bench player. Luka is obviously phenomenal.

Tim Hardaway is a solid bench player. He often makes them too small on the perimeter when he plays SF though. I would like to see them move on from him. Maybe he can be the guy they trade for PF with Derrick Jones Jr moving to a backup SF role. It sounds like they have traded all their picks now though. So no idea how they get a starting caliber PF.

PJ is an upgrade over Grant.  He can disappear like Grant does but he's more then a 3pt shooting big.  There was a time I was hoping the c's would trade Grant for PJ.  PJ can play small ball center as well better then Grant did.

I think PJ Washington is quite a bit better than Grant Williams.  A more productive player, overall.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Inclined to agree but I don't know if Dallas is better.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

We shall see how they mesh, but the players Dallas brought in are both better, IMO. Seth Curry is not having a good year and Grant lost his starting role. Very limited production from both guys.

Would be very surprised if they start Derrick jones over Washington.

A source tells DallasBasketball.com that Williams, who was acquired in the offseason in a three-team sign-and-trade involving a 2030 first-round pick swap, over the short time he was here brought with him a vocal and colorful personality that ended up not fitting well into the locker room.

Not shocking.
