Yahoo Sources: Josh Smith has agreed to sign with the Houston Rockets.

Smith will likely sign a deal with the Rockets for the biannual exception of $2 million once he clears waivers at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday. His agents, Brian Dyke and Wallace Prather, informed the Rockets of the decision on Wednesday afternoon, sources said.

If Rondo wants to go to the Rockets, Daryl Morey will find a way w/o getting rid of that starting 5. Guess it all depends on how much assests Rockets will give up and if Josh Smith will take a solid pay cut considering what his making next season from Detroit.


Im not all that great with the Cap and CBA but couldnt something like Papanikolaou/Corey Brewer/Alexey Shved/Terrence Jones w/ a 1st for a 16 million TPE. Then flip the TPE to the mavs w/ NOP 1st for Rajon S&T?

Their floor spacing and late-game foul shooting will stink. Smith shots only 2% better than Howard at the FT line, and Smith is not exactly a floor-spacer to help the Harden-Howard P&R or the Dwight post ups.

Better version of Terrence Jones.

It will be interesting to see if that's actually true. Right now, Jones is playing good defense and exercising very good shot selection from three point range. Overall, Jones has been a better player than Smith for a couple of years.

I remember how good Josh Smith used to be, though, and I sure wanted us to get him.

The loser here is Donatas Motiejunas, a decent interior player that is overconfident, underachieves on defense, and takes a lot of ill-advised threes. Smith will slot into his spot nicely, eh?
