Good point, we have an open roster spot. Joe Smith wouldn't require any subtractions, at least until we add another PG/SF.

Not that it matters.  If the Celtics had to cut someone, POB is wasted space anyways.

Well, right.  But OKC is going nowhere, and Smith is an expiring contract.  That's why people expect a buyout (which has been rumored in the media, if another trade isn't made).

If Smith went to New Orleans, there's no shot that he would be cut.  Going back to OKC, though, the chances of a buyout increase exponentially.

I e-mailed my brother about this when I heard this morning that Joe Smith would be interested in coming to the Celtics, this was his response.

"So who from celticsblog is flying to OKC to kill the phones there so they can't trade Joe?"

So who's up for it?  ::)

I don't know, I think Danny is already on it.  He clearly already got to the Thunder's team doctor.

Anyone see Danny Ainge in the Oklahoma City area recently carrying a large bowling bag that he kept "accidentally" dropping on peoples' toes?

A Joe Smith buyout would be fantastic! Keep hope alive!!

A potential 5 man bench of the below would be excellent:

Marbury
House
Walker (until TA comes back and proves he can earn the spot back)
Smith
Davis

(plus Powe and Scal for matchups)

you would have to cut another player to sign marbury and smith.
