No matter what happens with the free agents this Summer ; wouldn’t it be interesting to add Thibs as an assistant coach?

Although I write this only half seriously he might be the heart this team .

And we’d have our coach in waiting if CBS crashes and burns next season .

I would only ever allow him to be an assistant coach. I don't want him turning Jaylen and Jayson into broken down wings like Luol Deng
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

It's funny you mention Thibs. I was actually just thinking about him last night after Philly's loss. If the rumors are true about Brett Brown possibly getting canned anything short of a Finals appearance, I wonder if the Sixers would have an interest in Thibs, especially if they feel it might help them re-sign Jimmy Butler in the offseason.

Thibs would be awful for the 76ers.

They need a coach willing to work with whatever the medical staff and front office conclude will preserve a healthy and in shape Embiid for the playoffs.

Also he's not a creative enough offensive coach to handle a tough fit with Simmons/Embiid

I don't see Thibs being an assistant in Boston. He hasn't had much luck with young players. The last thing we need is Thibs screaming at Smart, Brown, Tatum, etc so much that they tune out completely.

He was a great defensive coach on Doc's staff when we had mostly vets. The defense has been pretty solid under Stevens.

Stevens needs a couple of explayers on the staff. Posey would be good.

I'd be fine with Thibs as an assistant anywhere. Good defensive coach who players respect for his hard work. I don't think he's particularly suited to be a HC in the league anymore however.

I'm very curious what Brad does with his bench this off season in response to such a trying year.
