If they acquired Paul, it's a somewhat logical step.

I'd try to dump Mo Williams on someone and keep Billups though. Compressed season and all. Give him 15pgg at the one spot and the same amount at the two.

Or they just want to get off on the right foot with him, make sure he understands what the team is trying to do, what his role will be, etc.

So Chauncey could be receiving $12.2 million from NY, $2 million from the Clips and $1.4 million from the heat or Lakers?

Remember Chauncey did warn teams not to pick him up if amnestied, and he would rather retire than play for a non-contender.  Perhaps they are trying to talk him in to staying now that CP3 is in tow.  The Clips are certainly an up and coming team but I wouldn't consider them a championship threat this year.  And Billups doesn't have many years left.

His agent came out and said he will not be let go. They want him to be their Sam cassell of 2006.
