Why we win, short version:In a nutshell, because Denver can't stop these two guys:
Why we win, long version:* Lebron James is the best player in the world, by a large margin. He averaged 30.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 50% shooting in the playoffs. He did this despite playing against the 1st, 5th, 9th, and 11th best defenses in the NBA.
* Kyrie Irving is the best rookie PG since Chris Paul, and arguably the best rookie period. He led the NBA in clutch scoring, and is the first rookie since Tim Duncan (and the first rookie guard since Michael Jordan) to average 18 points and a .565 TS%.
* Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett couldn't keep up with Lebron in the playoffs. There's no way that Ariza and KG can do it, either.
* Lebron will be seeing a ton of time at PF, the position he primarily played in the playoffs. He posted a 37.1 PER there this year.
* Thabo Sefolosha statistically was the best perimeter defender in the NBA last year, and effectively covered everyone from Tony Parker to Lebron James.
* Elton Brand was one of the very best defenders in the NBA last year, and ranked near the top of the league in both post defense and pick-and-roll defense.
* There isn't a team in this league -- including Denver -- that can match Dallas' versatility. The Mavericks can play big with a Varejao/Brand/Lebron front line, or they can go small with Brand/Lebron/Green (or Dunleavy). They can play lock down defense with Varejao/Brand/Lebron/Thabo/Dooling, or they can outscore every team in the league with Brand/Lebron/Green/Gordon/Irving.
* The Mavericks are the best shooting team in the league. They have five guys who shot above 36% from 3PT last season, and seven guys with an eFG% above .500.
Candidly, we don't even need to get into Denver's weaknesses, because our team has too many strengths to slow down.
