Sorry, but most of you have very little perspective.
Yes, it was stupid. Thank goodness he didn't hurt anyone. He was stopped and he'll take his punishment.
I seem to remember Paul Pierce being pulled over this summer. And he's a lot older, a father and should know better also.
I seem to remember last year's MVP being arrested for assault.
I seem to remember MJ having some major gambling problems.
etc.
Yes, these are all great players, and Gabe is simply trying to stay in the league. It's certainly not smart.
I think the Celtics will evaluate him based on potential. If they like the kid, they'll keep him and tell him not to do it again. If they were looking for an excuse to cut him, they'll use this as a reason. It has more to do with playing ability (e.g. Pierce, Bryant, MJ) than whether you commit a stupid act off the court.
Last night's effort was indeed pathetic. No leadership. Rondo, House, Pruitt, Pierce etc. -- everyone seemed really out of sorts. I wonder if they were all kind of depressed about the potential arrival of Marbury. To me, it looked like they were sulking on the court from the get-go -- a complete turnaround from Denver.
Reading between the lines, it doesn't seem to me that PP, RA and others are all that thrilled with Marbury coming. When you feel the need to publicly state in advance that a guy needs to completely change his game and get with the program to fit in or he'll be gone, it's like he's coming in on a very short leash. He will need to make a complete transformation.
