Gentle team owners,

I have been pecking away at updating the rosters on the rosters page

http://www.celticsblog.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=64&topic=21821.msg352073#msg352073

If you haven't already please post your current roster there.

Please use the following format:

Cleveland Cavaliers - Dwyane Wade, Manu Ginobli, Louis Williams, Josh Boone, Hakim Warrick, Nick Collison, Jamal Tinsley, Mikki Moore, Luther Head, Desmond Mason, Javaris Crittenton, Bobby Simmons, Wilson Chandler, Serge Ibaka, Shan Foster

If you have made updates since a mod has marked it updated please edit out the mark so we know it needs to be updated.

If you have used a format other than the one above, please redo it.

Thanks

redz = i edited my entry and took your "mod marker" off.... thanks for doing this.  TP

I really don't like this deal for the Magic. While I think Stuckey has potential, I don't think he's going to help them right away. He's still a few years away from making major contributions IMO, and Duncan and Billups aren't getting any younger.

Hmmm... one of our main rivals not liking the deal... Hmmm... ;)

Stuckey showed he's ready to contribute last year in teh playoffs: As a 21-year-old against the eventual NBA Champs he averaged:

9.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg in 23 mpg --- and was clearly unphased by the pressure.

those numbers are an improvement over the first 2 rounds for him too -- against better players to boot.

We're ready for a title run. UBUTNU Y'ALL!!

To kick off the fake NBA Free Agency period, the ORLANDO MAGICS sign SG Juan Carlos Navarro

"We think Navarro got a bum deal in Memphis last year and are confident that he will join the MAGICS for the 2009-10 season. The Latino community in Orlando will embrace him much like they embraced Carlos Arroyo.  UBUNTU Y'ALL!" said GM Gainesville Celtic.

Nets sign free agent Jarron Collins

Is that okay? Am I doing this right?

I believe so BDM --- each team can sign one FA a "day" (7 pm to 6:59 pm the next night).

nice signing Wiz with Yue! You might want to change your roster/sig... Stuckey's in MAGICS blue now :)

Can anyone sign a FA? Don't you need to have an open roster slot to do so, or is that not the case?

Roy added this to Page 1 of the draft board:

Quote
FREE AGENCY BEGINS AT 7:00 PM ON AUGUST 22, 2008.  PICKS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED, BUT ARE LIMITED TO ONE SIGNING PER DAY.  DAY TWO OF FREE AGENCY BEGINS THE FOLLOWING DAY AT 7:00 PM, ETC.

and this is old in the rules... Wdleehi has said the date/time hasn't been set yet:

Quote
You can have more then 15 picks/players during the draft.  A date will be chosen where all teams need to trim their roster to 15 players (or make sure they have at least 13)  This doesn't include players that can be sent overseas.

I believe roster cuts will be Sunday at midnight, but I'm not completely sure.  wdleehi's call.

Keep in mind:  the roster limit is 15 NBA players (including any sent to the D-League) + international players.  You can't, however, send a player to Europe unless he's playing there already (i.e., I couldn't send Roko Ukic there, because he's signed to play for Toronto this year.)

That means you can't have (for instance) 15 NBA players + 3 D-Leaguers + 3 Americans you decide to keep overseas.

What about guys that are already overseas?

Taureen Green signed overseas with a 1 year opt out deal, so after signing Mateen Cleaves, can I keep the 15 plus Green overseas?

Yeah, they don't have to be born internationally, so long as they're playing there.
