Cavs should go for 74 wins.
they will never go for that, but it would be funny if they did break the GS record.
+1

The more I watch the Cavs the more I think they should be the heavy favorite to win the title.

They have 2 guys who can score at will, and they are very physical without fouling. I think their physicality will give both the Warriors and Spurs problems. Add to that the fact that there are no other real contenders in the East, and they should really have good odds on winning the championship.

According to my calculations, the Cavaliers are projecting to about . . . ummmm, 82 wins, I think.

We could have beaten em if they just didnt shoot lights out the other day..they certainly wont sustain that in a gruelling 82 game schedule. At some point they wil taper down and settle to around 60 wins. Pacing the queen should be their utmost priority.

No one thinks they are going to go for the all time wins record or anything, but when they are firing on all cylinders, they will be tough to beat, even for the Warriors and Spurs.

I fully expect that after they pick up their 1st loss, they will start resting James a bit more.

Speaking of firing on all cylinders, remember late last season when Cleveland played the Clips in L.A. and absolutely wiped the floor with them.  I think Vegas had the game as a pick-em, and I was frustrated because Bovada wouldn't take action the game that day, lol....

Since we have this thread, I figured it was worth mentioning that James has now moved into 10th place all time for points scored and will likely finish the year in 7th place passing Hayes, M. Malone, and Shaq along the way.  Dirk is currently in 6th, but James is at least this year and most of next year away from him even if Dirk doesn't score another point.

last night Lebron passed Moses Malone for 8th all time in points scored.  He should catch Shaq this year as he is about 1100 behind him and if he scores similarly to last year still has another 1300 to go this year.  So he should finish the year 7th all time.  Depending on what Dirk does the rest of the year (and his career) he could catch him next year (17-18).  If he stays in the same general scoring range, the 2018-9 season will be when he passes Wilt and Jordan and moves into 4th all time (he would have an outside shot at Kobe that season if he doesn't tail off at all and keeps playing 75ish games).  With a presumed drop off he probably needs until the 2020-1 season to have any real shot at Malone with 21-22 being more likely.  To catch Kareem, he probably needs to play until 2023-4, which he might very well do.

On the Celtics front, Pierce is 47 points behind Hondo for 15th all time.   KG is right behind Pierce in 17th place.  Anthony is the only active player that you could reasonably project will pass those two in the next couple of seasons (Durant is probably 4 or 5 seasons away and Wade has an outside shot but is still like 6000 points back - he is just too hard to project).
