I was going to do a front page post on this but thought it would be more fun if it was a forum post.

Which Celtics or non-C's (current or former) remind you most of various Star Wars characters (any series, movie, book, etc.)

I'll throw out a bunch and you can agree or provide your own

Pierce - Han Solo - has that sly grin and swagger
KG - Chewy - big, loud, prone to fits of aggression, but loyal and good hearted
Ray - Luke?
Marquis - Jar Jar (sorry, he kinda looks like him with the dreds)

non-Celtics:

Stern - the Emperor (obvious)
Kobe - Vader
LeBron - Darth Maul (kids love him, but he gets killed early)
Duncan - Bobba Fett (if you could clone a player, he'd be a good choice)

ok, lets hear your best
Faith and Sports - an essay by Jeff Clark

Well I'm thinking Yoda would have to be a veteran point guard in the league, so I'll go with Jason Kidd. Also, put Allen Iverson down for Sebulba and Steve Nash for young Anakin (talking Episode 1 here). Also, the Miami heat home fans for the storm-troopers cuz they're fond of wearing all white.

Leon Powe = R2D2 --> does all the unglorified dirty work that needs to get done but with none of the fanfare or glory.

C3PO would have to be Amare Stoudamire - soooo glad the Cavs didn't abduct him from the Western Conference this season...

Nate = Yoda - guy who seems too small to do any damage, but the next thing you know he's zipping around and jumping over everybody.

I'd've pegged Kobe as Boba Fett - Boba was a clone, not the original.  Kobe is Boba, Jordan was Jango.  Kobe seems ultra-capable but ultimately gets defeated in a way that Jordan would've never allowed to happen (Games 4/6 in 2008).

BBD is of course this guy:

  • Yup
I see Stern as more of a Jabba the Hutt type villain.  Vader had an honorable sort of infamous integrity to him, a respect for the Jedi way, and a clearness of purpose.  Jabba was a dirty deal maker, not of doing whatever it took for a buck.

Stern =
Yup

as soon as I saw the thread title I thought to myself "I hope no one has Marquis as Jar-Jar..I hope no one has Marquis as Jar-Jar!"

Ray Allen as Billy Dee Williams. I know he was Lando Calrissian and if you gotta see it like that okay..but Ray Allen is the Billy Dee Williams of basketball. When he stars on his own, he leaves you wanting..but when he's on the supporting cast, you will never see a cooler customer.

just a quiet lull before the playoffs, we'll pick it up in earnest in the offseason though!

Rondo as Luke

Rondo, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order the backcourt of some mediocre team as second rate stars.

I'll never join you! I like to win and individual stats arent that big a deal!

If you only knew the power of the selfish side. Kevin Garnett never told you what happened to your father.

He told me enough! He told me *you* killed him! Wait..actually he's not dead.

No. *I* am your father.

No. No. That's not true. That's impossible! Literally! I know who he is, we never talk!

Search your feelings, you *know* it to be true!

Noo! Noooooooo-i'm-falling-oh-my-god-ooooooooooo!!!!
