Macho Man had his charms...The Hulkster always made me giggle...Andre the Giant was just great to look at, but the only wrestler I ever truly believed in was George "The Animal" Steele (and maybe Jimmy Superfly Snooka)

Thanks for the picture Redz...takes me back to my misspent youth and the golden age of rasslin

Growing up it was Bruno Sammartino. Then Ric Flair came along and the rest is history- the greatest wrestler of all time. I also loved Terry Funk, Superstar Billy Graham, the Road Warriors (Legion of Doom) and fav manager was Captain Lou Albano.

ah bringing up managers, Lou was great, but I go with Mr. Fuji (btw there was a vicious rumor that Capt. Lou used to bowl around the North Shore, anyone know if that's true?)

huh, so looking through the thread, im the only shawn micheals guy?

i find that odd is all, is it because of the blow back from the brett hart thing?

because in the ring, during his prime, he was one of the greats, incredible on the mic as well. so many incrible matches. the endo match with brett, the first hell in a cell, and he defined ladder matches, not to mention the giant killer matches with diesel.

i dunno, just thought he'd be brought up :/

the heartbreak kid is definitely up there, and I think loyalty is a virtue, which he showed more than almost any other wrestler of his time - he had some classic matches and still continues to.  His entrance song is easily one of the most recognizeable, and he will put young guys over, something that takes Hogan and LOD down a notch (and the fact that those guy wouldn't sell for other wrestlers - when someone hits you with their finisher and you pop right back up, it kills their credibility and is bad for business - but I digress)

I always had a soft spot for Chief J Strongbow too

More recently, the Rock was pretty entertaining in his prime

Reading through this thread, trying to pick a favorite wrestler must be like what a parent goes through when they try to pick a favorite child.

I was totally hooked on wrestling for so many years that I went right with whoever they were supporting as face and rooted against whoever they cast as the heel.

But...nothing got me and my best friend pumped up like the...

LWO!!!

Seriously, though, I would say Sting back when he was doing the Crow bit.  It seemed like he was doing that "drop from the ceiling and beat the hell out of everyone with a black bat" gimmick for like four years, but when he beat Hollywood Hulk Hogan for the title and then started screaming Spanish into the camera I had the strangest mixture of being so pumped and perplexed that I had no idea how to react.

There were other better wrestlers, and there were other better eras, I'm sure.  But that was my era and my guy.  I started watching wrestling with the Ladder Matches between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon (good place to start in my opinion) and the nWo and that era on WCW was the peak before going to WWF and guys like Stone Cold and the Rock.  Good times.
