Learn to shoot a hook shot with either hand.

It makes it so easy, when you get the ball inside.

You can go straight up and protect the ball with your body.

This seems like a more appropriate message to those who hope to become Celtics players when they grow up.
Quote from: George W. Bush
Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples while judging ourselves by our best intentions.

As long as we're making requests. Everyone needs a floater off the dribble in the paint.

That is a tough shot to learn. Hook shots are easy.

I imagine this message is directed at Big Al who for some reason has absolutely no touch with his baby hook - especially off the dribble. This is especially strange because Al is excellent at nearly every other basketball activity.

Anyway, I agree. Personally I am a very good outside shooter, but as a pseudo-big man, most all of shots come from 5-10 feet out on the baby hook. It is unblockable and even when the shot is off, it still bounces around the rim and in most of the time. It's about pushing the ball up rather than throwing it at the hoop.

Just a small request from me, too: I request everyone be as ambidextrous and able to finish with both hands as Kyrie. Oh, and to have his handles. Is that too much to ask?!  ;)

I'm not sure who on our team you think struggles when they get the ball inside.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm glad the hook shot is being brought up. I was just thinking, what if Joel Embiid was forced to pick up Shane Larkin on a switch? Wouldn't it be sweet if Larkin took Embid down low and had the ability to score on him using a hook shot?

Hook shots aren't easy for everyone tbh, I've seen great shooters i HK who couldn't hit hook shots to save their lives, while I am mediocre at shooting and can hit skyhooks with both hands.

And the hook shot is the easiest shot of all to learn.

You act like these players don't practice or learn new things. This is their livelihood. Most have been playing ball their whole lives with numerous coaches teaching them. Coaches that know how to play the game as opposed to dudes on message boards. NBA level players constantly practice and try to improve their games. Marcus Smart constantly works on his shot, has top level coaching, but still can't shoot well. Basketball is really hard at the college and pro level. Most players know how to do the stuff Kyrie does but don't have that ability.

You make it sound so easy behind a computer screen. Hey go out and learn a hook shot! It's so easy! You'll score 40 a game if you just learn this one neat trick! Al Horford would be unstoppable! As if a 31 year old and 11 year vet doesn't know how to do a hook shot. He might simply not have a good one and it's not easy.

This reminds me of a story about Ted Williams being approached during spring training one year by a fan who told him his swing was all wrong and the fan offered to show him the proper way to swing a bat. At least they didn't have twitter and the internet back then.

You have already mentioned Marcus shot and lack of improvement.  Why did Sully never stay in shape?  How about Lonzo Ball's shot?

One can make strong arguments that professional coaches assume their players know the game if they have made this far.   They don't have a ton of practice time once the season starts.   Also, some of this is on the players.   Coaches don't like to mess with player's shots either during the season.  Pros are treated like men and there is some sink or swim involved.

Who do you play for Chris?   How far have you made it with those skills?
