If Lillard cared about winning, wouldn’t he have asked out of Portland by now? Surely he realizes that they aren’t contending anytime soon. Same goes for Beal.
Lillard literally addresses people like you making this argument in his appearance on Redick's podcast

He thinks the league has changed and that it hasn’t always been about winning championships/rings?   Can’t believe people wanted to trade JB for Dame.  He’s definitely not built for Boston.

If that is your takeaway...

It is not some weird binary thing. You can (obviously, I would have thought) be competitive and want to win, whilst staying loyal to your team.

We laud and adore great players who stay loyal to successful teams, yet laugh at those who stay loyal to teams that falter - why?

I don’t think many would call Dame disloyal at this point in his career if he wanted to go to another team to compete for a championship. The farthest that Portland has made it in the 11 years he’s been there was the conference finals (once) where they received a gentleman sweep from GS. Blazers aren’t even a playoff team this year and Lillard likely only has a few more years in his prime as small guards typically don’t age well.

My takeaway from the interview is that he enjoys living in Portland and is very comfortable there. Those appear to be the most important things to him, competing for a championship seems secondary. I also get the impression that he doesn’t want the pressure and noise that comes along with playing for a contending team. He seems content being in a small market.

I asked a question regarding why Dame would want to stay in Portland when they aren’t competitive, to which you replied that he already addressed the reason on a podcast with JJ Redick. I then watched the interview and gave a response based on what he had to say. I’m not sure how that is an unreasonable thing to do.

So just to be clear, I still think a healthy Boston team beats Philly in a playoff series, even without HCA.

But I have to say, this Sixers team is just soaring. They're probably the hottest team in the NBA right now with a legit MVP

in their first 23 games, Harden missed 14 and Embiid 8 (many overlap), but they've both been mostly healthy since.  They are just a very nice fit.

Something tells me the 76ers aren't the 76ers that we beat in the regular season. They'll be ready for us this time and are licking their chops with the way the C's been regressing

Again, it’s not complicated. He wants to compete in Portland. Why is that worthy of demonisation? With a player of his calibre, if Portland just built even an okay team around him they’d easily make the playoffs (as they used to).

They also always play worse in the playoffs - particularly Embiid and Harden. The biggest reason for that is the game changes, and Embiid doesn't get the benefit of his foul grifting nearly as often.

The final 4 weeks might be a Battle Royale between Boston, Milwaukee and Philadelphia.

As it stands, Philly and Boston are both 2 games behind MIL for the 1 seed. PHI is ahead of us barely, but we do also have the tiebreaker over PHI. Sixers currently have the tiebreaker on MIL. And all 3 teams will play each other one more time before the season ends. It does feel like those head-to-head games could be monstrous in terms of tiebreakers and potential "2-game swings" either way.

Idk if it's injuries or something internal, but this Miami team simply doesn't look good. Which is weird, but I guess their shots just haven't been falling this season. I still would prefer not to face them in the playoffs, but they definitely don't look as threatening as years past.
