It is hard to tell whether Wembenyama is going to be more Ralph Sampson or more Kevin Durant.  It does seem that he has skills more like Durant.  The body or frame is an concern.  Shawn Bradley is another one that comes to mind.  Wembenyama may be different.
It's impossible to tell, but his build gives me less pause than Chet's (for example) because he is a more fluid athlete.

I’m not buying the KD comparisons. Durant at that age was a much more explosive and athletic player. A natural 2/3. Victor is a 4/5. His size and skillset is very similar to Porzingis and if he could be a better version of KP that’s a perennial all star.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

He's a lot more KD than he is Porzingis. He moves like a guard.

The real question is does he have the attitude and drive, the skill and athletic ability seem there against slightly inferior competition to the NBA.   We all seen the next this or that and then they fizzle.

What separates the good ones from the great ones is what is between the ears.   Will to win, willingness to compete, desire to impose their will on others to dominate the team.

You ask a good question but for me the bigger question is how his body will hold up.  Durant was quite durable but then you have similar guys like Porzingas and Bol Bol who always seem injured.

And Shawn Bradley, lots of durability issues.  It seems to me he has drive and confidence.  Doesn't appear that is the problem.  82 games against grown men is a long season.

Very exciting young player though.

Durant is ~6'11". Wembenyama, Porzingis, Bol, Sampson are ~7'2" - 7'4". That's a massive difference. Being that tall is a disadvantage, both in terms of increased injury risk and in terms of positional versatility on defense. More often than not, drop defenders are a net negative in the modern game.

Excellent point. Giannis was talking about that the other day too in an interview.

A good example of someone with all the physical tools but not the mental attitude is Ben Simmons.

He just dropped 37 points against the G-League Ignite team (which has no. 2 prospect on it) and his point guard is our old friend Tremont Waters.

He is much more Durant than Porzingis. I don't think Porzingis has ever broken someone down off the dribble - Wembenyama does it all the time

Super tall players almost always have foot issues. I wouldn't bet the house on him becoming an elite player just yet.

This dude is like a player you’d try to create in 2K, but the game wouldn’t let you because it’s too unrealistic and unfair.

If he stays healthy he’s going to go down as a top five player of all time

Wow. Quite the statement. I can’t tell if you are being serious, though.
