Never underestimate the heart of a veteran team in the playoffs! For those who don't remember the 95 Rockets, they were an older team that struggled during the regular season, entered the playoffs as a 6th seed and went on to win the title.  I sincerely believe that KG will be healthy and this Celtics team will win in playoffs and take home #18.

TP, that's what I have been thinking for months now. That Rockets team is the perfect comparison.

Like the optimism.

I still can't get over how handily that team beat Orlando in the Finals that year.

Nick Anderson was never the same.

Count me amongst the optimists; however, I like to avoid any sweeping generalizations.  My biggest grip with the pessimists on the board is how many of them are sure that KG is done and PP will never be what he was again.  Thus, I won't say that the Celtics are the '95 Rockets.  That's not certain either.

However I do like that OP poster's reminder that the regular season and playoffs are two very different things and that two poor months don't define a team.

TP. There's always hope. Championship experience counts for a lot.

If KG can get even a little of his mojo back, the C's are back in business.

I'm not sure how I feel about our chances since there's too many question marks but I'm trying to lean towards optimism so TP for the positive opinion.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

TP for the optimism, Jsaad, and I understand where you're coming from ... but this is a different team, and one that's good enough to be proud of being the 2010 Celtics. ;)

  • Rondo = Good
Did Hakeem injure his knee and play like half the player he used to be for most of the regular season in '95?

Drexler joined the Rockets, mid-season, back in '95. The comparison isn't the same because it was after the trade that the team had gelled for the playoffs.

The team couldn't put it together during the Regular season but gelled in the playoffs. I understand Drexler was acquired at the deadline, but what was the Rockets Reg season record after making the deal? They won 47 games that season, so imagine he had more of an impact in the playoffs.

No but the Rockets didn't have nearly the amount the of talent around Hakeem so the comparison is very good IMO.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pierce, Ray, KG and Wallace all play on that team? ;D
