Spilt milk, but I think Dwight Howard would have been great on this team and probably even solidify us as contenders.

Who else is logically attainable given our position on Smart and Hayward and our lack of cap space?

The only thing coming to mind is Jaylen Brown for Steven Adams... Any other ideas?

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Hayward + any 1st round pick and a second rounder for Steven Adams.

I don't get the whole let's trade our young stud/wing that can complimentary guard 1-4, as well as play 2-4 for a center that got overpaid...

Trade Hayward and the basketball gods will smite us for another 4 years.

So many threads on this topic...  The short answer is: nobody likely to move the needle. The really good centers mostly aren't available, and the marginal upgrades over Theis/Kanter cost too much.

On the Brown for Adams idea, the weird extension rules make it practically impossible to trade Jaylen Brown this year, and even if they didn't apply the salaries wouldn't match. You could match by sending Marcus Smart and a couple smaller salaries - Kanter and Romeo works in the trade machine. But I wouldn't do that deal and I have no idea whether OKC would want it.

Hayward is better than Adams, so why are we sending them a pick?

Anyways I don't think the C's are trading Hayward, especially not for an overpaid big man role player. I think the C's are very aware that trading IT hurt them around the league. So I think Hayward is here until he hits FA this summer or the next.

It's amazing that people trapped in the 1970s have access to the world wide web.

My guess is there isn't anyone available right now that would be worth trading one of our 'core 5' for.

But that aisde.....

Hayward probably doesn't have much trade value around the league right now.  His contract is (possibly) expiring and it's not 100% clear he's back to his Utah form, besides being almost 30.  Hayward's trade value is certainly not equivalent to his value to the Celtics as a player.

If we want to get something good we're going to have to give up something good.  If Tatum/Brown/Smart/MEM #1 are off the table we're not going to get anything good.

Or, we can wait and hope a different solution presents itself in time.  Ainge will wait, that much I'm sure of.

Steven Adams certainly comes to mind.

Towns will always come to mind, although I know he's not available (at least not yet.)

You should know better than proposing trading Hayward. The majority on here will shred you to pieces.
You can trade Pierce , Rondo and Garnet but not Hayward.

Don't mess with CelticStrongers  :P lol

Yup, because centers like Embiid who put up 38 pts and 13 rebounds clearly have no place in basketball.

We should start rolling out "midget basketball."

Lol, mention the words Hayward and trade in the same sentence, and you will be tarred and feathered.

Pierce, Garnett, and Rondo were all traded under very different circumstances than the circumstances that Hayward would be hypothetically traded under.

Center is not this team's most immediate problem.  They're fine with that they have.
Last night Theis had 16, Kanter 20 and Embid had 38.  They held their own.

The bigger problem is their wing depth sucks.

Simply tallying up the points scored of each team's centers is such a poor way to illustrate the actual impact of any of the individual players.
