  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
You love it.

We love it.

And it was decided, there is only one thing to be done for it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGWq49vFkzY

Presenting an IP/SO joint, for your Drafting Pleasure:

The TV Show Draft

What it is, my man:
The point is to draft the cast for your perfect TV show. Your show can be anything you want it to be. Perfect brain numbing action, scary supernatural serial sitcom, whatever you want.

You can start from a concept. Did you want to assemble the perfect Epic Fantasy show, because Game Of Thrones always rubbed you the wrong way? Cool. Go for it. Tell us about your vision, assemble your cast.

Or, did you want to take your cast and let the concept come organically? Awesome. Go get your A-Team together and figure it out afterwards.

Did you want to do a TV adaptation of a favorite book or series of books? Awesome, we love it. Give unto us your precious head movies!

Did you just want to do a sitcom because you miss Seinfeld and Curb? Sounds exciting! Can't Wait!!

I'm intrigued. How would you go about it?
You draft characters, not actors, so you can take both Hal from Malcolm in the Middle and Walter White from Breaking Bad, but they're two separate picks, not the same pick, and you can't pick Bryan Cranston.

You assemble your cast, you 'pitch' your show to 'Studio Heads' and 'Producers', and we hand out superlatives at the end.

All picks must be from TV shows that aired original episodes after 1985.

You must pick:
1 Leading Man or Lady (any genre)
1 Love interest (man or woman or robot, don't care)
1 Funny Man (or Woman)
1 Badass
1 Best friend
1 Mentor
1 Wildcard (like a Flex in Fantasy Football)
1 Primary Antagonist
1 Secondary Antagonist
1 Theme Song (from an existing TV Show, or not. Hell, write it yourself.)

What roles you can play:
We're looking for GMs (now called Producers) and Panelists (Studio Heads)

We're hoping for 10-12 Shows (14 at most, we want the draft done in a week and a half, Co-Producer Teams are welcome), and as many as 6 Studio Heads.

What You'll Have To Do:
1) Make picks
-There will be a standard draft format, with times assigned. There will be no penalty for missed picks however, and if you're one of those guys who can't make a pick before 3pm or can only pick before 1pm or after 7pm or something, just make your picks after their time at your leisure. There are a million shows with a million characters out there, and as always you can leave a list with any one of the other Producers or Commishes. This is not meant to be a burden at all, just a creative outlet and place for jokes.

2) Present Your Show
-There is no minimum or maximum amount of effort to put in here. If you wanted to commit 140 characters or 2,000 words to your vision for your 'show', both are welcome. Follow your heart kid, and you'll never go wrong.

3) Vote
-And vote on other shows. And that's it. And everyone wins.

First Studio Head, off the board!

What do you guys think about drafting only characters played by one actor, and making a TV version of the film 'Multiplicity'? Sounds good?

Do mini-series count?  TV movies?

Yes, yes. Very loose guidelines. The one thing I'd like to avoid is someone picking like, an actor who was coincidentally on a reality show, and having them play a character.

Like picking Warren Sapp from when he was on Dancing With The Stars and making him your Badass. That'd be dumb.

What if I want to create a reality show? Characters don't usually go in reality shows.

You can create a reality show, but you have to use characters to do it.

Example: Growing Up Caveman
Leading man: Bam-Bam, The Flintstones
Romantic Interest: Michelle Tanner, but like a young michelle Tanner, Fullhouse
Best Friend: Chucky from Rugrats
Badass: Stewie from Family guy
Mentor: Caveman Lawyer, SNL
Wildcard: Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs!
Primary Antagonist: The unibrow baby from Simpsons
Secondary Antagonist: Tommy Pickles's sister from Rugrats
Themesong: Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Swede
