Who is Luka Šamanić?
Why is Androslav bothering us with yet another Croatian prospect?
Is he just a different way to say, Dragan Bender?

I will answer these questions shortly, after these videos...

Luka Šamanić (Shamanich, good nickname potential alert) is a Croatian born 6'11'' PF that plays for Slovenian club Petrol Olimpia. Last year he won the gold and MVP honors in the FIBA U18 Europen championship. He also played for Barcelona's 2nd team the season before. His father Marko, was a professional basketball player.

Scouting reports:

Personally, I like his offensive skill set, he can shoot, pass and even dribble some. He is projected as a 1st round pick in the 18-25 range, and that might be where several of our picks land, so it might be worth to check him out.

If his outside shot is a lock, then he's a perfect stash with one of our multitude of picks.  If his shot his iffy...stash someone else, or combine worst three picks to move up to late lottery or so..mid lottery if Griz pick is already late lottery.  Then we'd have two mid lottery picks.

This draft is a curious one imo.  A bit more wild west than usual.  Still some meteors to hit it seems and shake up the order.

If he’s even 10% as good as the other Luka, he will make it in the nba

Assuming we dont trade the picks, I'd love to take a flier on him with the celtics 1st.

Nice find andro. And with luka as his name how can he miss?  ;D

It is only highlights, but his offense reminded me of a slightly awkward Tatum. Nice passes and shooting.

But what about his defense? And does he play good team basketball? I remember thinking herzonga was going to be good.

Hvala vam.

Very likeable guy. He seems to play in and outside right now, but in the NBA his game will primarily be on the perimeter.

With his passing, shooting stroke, speed and vision he could become an allround offensive player, who stretches the floor.
Someone who would be available with our (potential) Clippers' pick?

He has him going to the Celtics with the #27 pick.

Here's a nice write up of him from the Stepien.

Thank you!  If he turned out as good as Kurucs one day that would be a late first round steal...I guess he's a bit taller..

Isaiah Roby, Luka Samanic late 1st round picks...

I like this kid a lot as a late 1st round pick. He looks like a modern NBA player. He is still a little raw but he looks like he could be a player. This year he's averaging 11.5 pts 7.2 rbs, 2 asts 2 blks. He's 21 years old which I guess is considered old in the draft now but I think he's a good sleeper pick. Anyone else seen more of him and care to comment?
