When All-Star selections were made it seemed like a close thing between Tatum and Brown's case.

It hasn't seemed like a close thing since. He may very well be the best player on our team going forward, and certainly has been for at least the last few weeks.
Yeah, prior to the New Year I had actually been giving the edge to Brown based on efficiency. Now it's Tatum without question. Since New Years Eve there's been a considerable gap.

Tatum, since then, is averaging:
23.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG, on splits of 47.6/43.3/82.5, and a TS% of 59.1%.

Brown since then:
19.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.1 BPG, on splits of 45.6/33.7/73.7, and a TS% of 55%.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

CONGRATS Tatum!

Player of the Week in the East  8)

100% deserved, though I originally thought someone like Giannis was going to get the honor
Yesss

It was between him and Giannis

This run of games by Tatum is scary reminiscent of the run Paul Pierce went on just before Shaq labeled Pierce "The Truth" forever and confirmed his stardom.

Tatum today scored 41 points on just 20 shots. That's efficiency.

And what I LOVED is that he attacked the paint more, even with guys like AD/Howard/McGee hounding the paint, and ultimately took 15 FTs (hitting 13 of them).

Jeff Van Gundy said it best: "Last season, a lot of those Tatum moves and shots inside would be fadeaway long jumpers"

The Lakers hit him with a double-team late and it certainly affected things, but that's encouraging that at 21-years old, he's already drawing double-teams, and as CBS said, it's good practice for him going forward.

I always like to count the shooting possessions he drew FTs on as well.

So its 41 points on 27 shooting possessions for his 14 FTs (one was a technical) with only 2 turnovers is superb. Now we just need him to get some more assists or hockey assists when the team is trapping him so hard.

I don't think Siakim is a lock for all-nba anymore, Tatum's surge has him right there for the entire season. Either that or they're both locks I guess.

Tatum will pass him if he stays this hot and almost certainly make all-NBA.

Just looking at the all-star roster:

LBJ/Davis/Giannis/Kawhi are locks on all-nba team (not sure if they're all 1st or 2nd team but they'll get on one of the three)

So two spots left between Siakam, Butler, Middleton, Tatum, Simmons, Sabonis among forwards. I think Tatum will make it, which makes his extension talks a lot more "interesting" lol. I believe he'd need to make it again next year for it to kick his max to 30% but I'm not sure if that's right.

Too generic, that's not going to stick. I feel like Tatum is too known now, too much exposure. He's just going to be Tatum unless something really good pops up.

(or he needs to embrace it via a manufactured PR push much like his idol did)

It was only a couple of months ago that some didn't believe Tatum is a superstar in the making.

Some even said Jaylen is better.

What Tatum has that other NBA players don't have is that superstar mentality.
