The Boston Celtics are preparing for strong scenario that All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Al Horford will leave as free agents, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

So basically, if we lose Horford (welp), let Morris + Rozier walk, I think we'll have about 20M in cap space, and more if they somehow decide to renounce/trade guys like Yabu, Semi, etc. Probably not enough for a max FA, but even then our roster suddenly looks REALLY thin. Horford was literally the face of our front court.

Also, this makes me surprised that Baynes opted-in. Did he know this was all going to unfold?

I wonder what Ainge is doing right now.

Probably sitting on his hands like how he did during midseason not making moves to improve the roster for the playoff run, and being way too focused on Anthony Davis that affected the performance of Jayson Tatum.

Well, if that's the case, then as might as well renounce him, Morris, Irving, Rozier and all our free agents and free up enough money to offer a max contract to someone (or split the money in half and offer half and half to two different free agents.)

D-Angelo Russell!

Listing to Felger and MAzz and they said they didn't want to see Horford leave, but for him he should, and said if they renouce enough players they can get a lower teired FA.

My mind went right to Russel, might be the right fit at the right time.

Without Horford around to hold his hand, there is no way I am re-signing Terry Rozier. Rozier cannot function at PG without Horford in the high post to run the offense through. Rozier just does not have enough vision and playmaking ability to survive. He will be a train-wreck.

I don't care what the price is. DO NOT BUY.

Now we really do need a new starting PG.

If he does leave we're in for a rough season

That's because Ainge and the Celts tried to be too good too fast!

Celts should have stayed in the lottery for 3 seasons after Pierce and KG left.

By trading for Isaiah at the trade deadline of 2015, Celts made the playoffs.

Celts could have had a lottery pick in 2015 and Jaylen Brown and another lottery pick in 2016.

Hayward should start at PF.

Without Horford here, there is no better option. The Celtics have no quality big men. So go small and try to out-score teams. Let Hayward be the team's point forward at PF.

Unless Danny has some sort of plan...this is an absolute failure. From the start of the season to now.

Might be time for a new direction at GM.

The thing that worries me is suddenly, our frontcourt is SUPER WEAK. Like who do we have there? Baynes. Maybe Theis. Williams?

Yikes! Sounds like the go young, blow it up crowd is getting their wish this offseason. Pretty disastrous imo. We went from potential contender to a team likely to miss the playoffs.

They could have sort of survived without Kyrie. Without Horford, they are toast. At least we’ll be in the lottery.

We're bleeding value left and right.  About to lose our two best players for absolutely nothing.

It's been a dark, cold season and offseason.
