Trade Idea

Celtics: Capela
Chicago: Westbrook, House Jr
Houston: Smart, Porter Jr, Dunn, Kornet, Theis

Ryen Russillo suggested Morey is open to trading Westbrook and this could be a domino that Bulls and Celtics need to improve their rosters. I know we all love Smart but he has public admitted he deserves to be a starter and IMO our offence flows much better with him off the court, I think Smart is the perfect guard next to Harden and although Smart is amazing, Capela is the missing piece we need to compete for a title. Westbrook needs his own team and Bulls need to become competitive above all.

Walker, Brown, Tatum, Hayward, Capela

Westbrook, LaVine, House Jr, Thad Young, Markkanen

Smart, Harden, Porter Jr, PJ Tucker, Theis

Disagree. I think trading an aging All-Star on a massive contract for a fringe All-Star and two high level role players is a really good deal.

The deal sucks for the Celtics though, why're we trading a fringe All-Star for a role player (albeit high level)?

Ew, no thanks. Smart and Theis offer more to this team than Capela ever could.

Smart next to Harden would be really something though. Opposite players, lol.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

agreed.

also, no way Capela would have helped win a game like last night's game when most of Toronto's shots rebounded long and our guards/wings weren't getting to the ball fast enough.

I really don't understand the fervour some posters have for trading away one of our core 5 for a marginal upgrade at centre. We have two high level role players manning the pivot in Theis and Kanter, we should only be looking to trade our core 5 for a game changer at the centre position, not glorified pieces who don't move the needle (eg. Capela, Drummond, Turner, etc). We should just roll with what we have unless we stumble across an amazing deal, our roster is good enough to really compete.

A one-game sample size is obviously never enough to make any conclusions about anything, but it was brutal watching Smart miss shot after shot on offense while our defense was seemingly giving up a record amount of offensive rebounds (each somehow leading to a wide-open 3).

We played well in Smart's absence and I have hope for Langford down the road to handle more responsibility, but it would be a tough trade to make - especially with Theis, who is probably in the running for most underrated player this season.

Now if you were saying there was any way to bring in Bam fro MIA, then let's get it done!

If we trade anyone it should be Gordon, because I think we do ok without him.   That being said, I don't see Ainge making a move.

While I’d love to get a “great” center, I feel like the thing we need most is to, for once, get everyone healthy for an extended period of time (namely Time Lord, Hayward and Smart) and let it roll. Hopefully Williams continues to develop as he has this year - he is impactful on defense and the boards.

I really like Smart on that $12 million dollar contract but if he thinks he should start ahead of Walker, Brown or Hayward and it’s a problem I might try to move him for a quality young big man (center or PF.

Ok, that’s good. I thought someone above said he thinks he should start. If this isn’t the case I’m not interested in trading him. He brings tremendous value at his current price.

I’d like to continue upgrading the PF and center spots through the draft and in the off season. Hopefully Ainge drafts some players outside of guards this year.

I’d rather find some bench help. Either D or scoring. I wonder if IT can be had at the deadline. He’d be great for the bench on and off the court. A more experienced PF would be great off the bench too.

Nooooooope.

Trade smart for a big who can't shoot?

No thanks.

I like Capela but zero interest if it includes Smart.
