Only in Boston could a local Division I university win a major men's sports national title and barely anyone know or care about it.

Congrats Eagles. Wat to bring another title to title town.

I'm an RA on duty tonight at BC and the place is pretty quiet for a Saturday night.

The other RA and I were joking that if BC had won a basketball or football championship the place would be a madhouse, but hardly anybody (aside from the athletes living on the first floor) seem to care that much.  We actually ran into Mark Herzlich on the elevator and we had a laugh with him about the same topic, recalling that a couple years ago BC was totally nuts around the time of the V-Tech game.

Really? I think most areas in the US wouldn't care. They probably care a lot more in this area than in many.

Anyway, would anyone care if they won lacrosse? Field hockey? We aren't talking about basketball or football -- the only college sports America in general has any interest in. We are talking about the collegiate level of a sport that at the professional level, I'm not sure even has a national TV deal.

The Lacrosse or field hockey championship wouldn't be on ESPN1.  You can't really compare hockey to those sports.

The Lacrosse championship game will in fact be on ESPN:

The NHL has a deal with NBC.

There is no bigger anti-BC fan than me, but I was rooting for the hockey team.....not hard to live with them being champs

Made the trek up to Detroit from Chicago on Thursday to catch the semis and the championship.

By far, one of the coolest and unique sports experiences I've been around.  Detroit did a great job putting this thing together. Tickets were very reasonable and there were plenty of events coinciding with the actual hockey games. Really weird watching hockey in a dome but it was great to see the big crowds and some passionate fanbases.  It was especially satisfying, as a BC alum, to be able to watch the Eagles bring home a national title.

I'll try and post a pic or two a little bit later.
