I think this means it has to have affected you to buy the product at least once

I'm pretty sure the best ever was Reces Pieces in ET

I admit I bought some Pabst cause of Gran Torino

I was already a loyal Coke drinker but I liked Coke Classic classic in the new Star Trek

Right off the top of my head I can't think of others even though I think there are lots of others

Sorry but I read the title wrong and thought you said "Product REplacement" as in extended warranties. I work at Staples and the word caught my eye.

As for seductive and alluring adds that worked...

1)KG on all the nba 2k9 commercials. He could have sat in a chair holding the game and i would have gone out a bought it

2)2009 Mitsubishi Lancer - Couldn't make the numbers work, but I REALLY looked into until I found out the car they showed was between 25-30 grand as the add said they "start out at 15,000"

3)Volcano products at Taco Bell - Vtaco, its ok, but not a fav.
VBurrito, great but ruins my digestive track. VNachos!, D-Freakinlicious BUT, I know I'll reap the consequences later b/c I've ate those twice today.
Can't stop, Rondo!

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I'm not sure the last two posts full understand product placement.  Here's a primer:

CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Karate in the Karate Kid, I was only 6 when it came out and was obsessed with taking martial arts from that point on.

It was overshadowed by Reses Pieces but Star Wars action figures in ET. Maybe that was just the script but it had to be good for Lucas. Also when ET had Budweiser

I'm normally fairly oblivious to these types of things.

Mobile phones attract my attention though -- was it the recent Die Hard movie that had some really nice phones? The Matrix back in the day?

I read an interesting book that in part dealt with product placement in movies and how 9 times out of 10 its a huge waste of money for companies to do.  Unless the product is an integral part of the movie's plot (i.e. Reece's in ET - also fun story that the Mars company was approached first to put M+M's in and they refused, sales of Reece's Pieces spiked after the movie, but anyways) the average consumer will not be influenced at all.  So if your favorite hero is drinking a coke, it won't actually make you more likely to buy coke, unless he spills the coke on himself and is like, oh man, coke on me, now I need dry cleaning... (even that's a stretch)... but yeah watch any movie today, the product placement is ridiculous; yet trying to remember what is actually in the movies is tough... I remember seeing Hancock a year or so ago and there were tons and tons of product placements, I remember a car, but can't remember the make, he had a drink he really liked, can't remember it, etc....

Earliest ever for me was FAO Schwarz in BIG.  Seems like everytime I'm in a town for one, I end up going in to see the keyboard and buy something stupid.

I remember watching Jurassic Park as a kid and loving the SUV during the tour (the one all painted that the T-Rex destroys later).  So when I was looking to buy my first car and was looking at a '92 Ford Explorer (green) and I saw that movie again, I realized they were the same cars.  That got me over the hill on the decision of purchasing the vehicle.  I bought it and was very happy with it for a while.

The ET Reeces Pieces story is the penultimate story when it comes to product placement.

The James Bond flicks have had high end placement of watches and obviously cars.

Back to the future has a bunch of products as well.
Still a sap for my kids -

The Program for steroids.

There's probably a bunch of motorcycle ads I can't quite put my finger on

I remember when someone made a comment like "You need a glock not that wussy nickel plated thing", but don't remember the movie.

Tiffany in Sweet Home Alabama led me to Tiffanys and I was very happy with the result

Reeses Pieces is definitely the #1.

Dead last has to be this:

I just saw part of it recently, not my kind of movie typcially, but it reeled me in for a while and had me longing for my days in D.C. eating boxes o' burgers at White Castle:  "Kumar and someone go to White Castle" -- something like that.
