It makes absolutely zero sense that he didn't make it into last night's game.

He is tailor made for this series.  What the hell is the coaching staff seeing that we don't?

According to Joe, they won 3/4 qtrs. Don't question him.

If this was the all star game, our charity would be most pleased

The defense was All-Star game level.

I saw your comparison in the other thread.  Only difference is Tatum didn't score 55 in this one!

Joe on no Grant Williams in Game 1: “We have a plan to use the depth that we need in order to give us the lineups that we think can really help us … I thought Payton gave us an opportunity with his shooting, with his playmaking, his pick and roll defense … Grant is always going to be ready. And we've built a lot of versatility and depth in our lineup where we can go a lot of different ways. We trust that anybody that we call in will be ready.“

What am I missing?

Yeah, I saw that and literally snorted.

The funny thing is they’re not even running the dang PnR with him, because that’s exactly who they want on Butler. They’re screening for the switch and having Butler iso and shoot over him.

I'm also not sure why Hauser, a known 3 point specialist, isn't getting any minutes either. Especially in stretches where we're just bricking them, and going up against a team with shooters too

Hauser makes a lot more sense against Miami than Pritchard given how Jimmy is hunting switches & exploiting Pritchard when forced to switch onto Jimmy. At least Hauser is bigger and will be more competitive defending Jimmy.

If Grant is injured, I understand why he hasn't played, but if that's the case, Joe should just say so. If Grant isn't injured, he should be given a shot.

It's kinda like hockey. Miami gets two points for the win, but we get a point for having won three out of four quarters.

Exactly..  Butler was and will hunt that matchup over and over again.  It doesn't benefit us, IMO unless PP is hitting 3s or doing something positive on offense.  Which is probably a struggle cause he hasn't had any consistent minutes for months.  Joe is just blowing smoke, or he really doesn't understand what it happening.  I am not sure which it is.

It's almost like we're purposely not playing him so that he doesn't get a big offer. And whatever offer he does get, we can easily match. Makes no sense to take a guy who was a major part of our rotation and suddenly begin icing him out.

So should he have gotten some of Tatum’s, Horford’s or Rob’s minutes tonight? I’d rather play those guys.

He should have had the entirety of Pritchard's minutes. Size was working well for us

Disagree. Grant can guard Bam, Zeller, Love. He’s not going to be defending the opposing teams guards any better than Pritchard did. Would likely be worse as those guys will go right around Grant due to his poor lateral quickness. Same thing would happen if he tried to defend Martin or Butler. The real issue is that Payton shouldn’t have cut into Whites minutes and he did. That was a bad call by Joe.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I love Pritchard but I didn't understand him all of a sudden getting tossed in there...

Astonishing. Does he hear the stupidity that comes out of his mouth?

Call me crazy, but if you're going to put in PP for his shooting, shouldn't you.....maybe call some sets to get him looks?
