More Proof Isiah Thomas Is A Terrible GM

Amazing player? Yes.
Great leader? Perhaps.
Good talent evaluation? No chance.

Thomas recently discussed Jayson Tatum’s skill-set and what makes him special in the NBA. He then proceeded to compare Tatum to of all people, Tom Chambers.

Although Chambers was an entertaining talent, his game is nothing like Tatum’s other then their shared positions and that they’re tall.

I think that Isiah's reference to Tom Chambers was an effort to recalibrate expectations we may have as NBA fans on Tatum's ceiling.

While I think Tatum will exceed Chambers, it's not like Chambers is a slouch. He had a very outstanding career.

Chambers did not make the hall of fame.

Will Tatum?  If you asked me to project that last season, I would have said "of course."  Now I am less sure.  It is just too soon to say. 

Hopefully he will turn things around and get back on the trajectory his career seemed to be headed in.

His max vertical had to be around  44" inches and he was  6-10.  Tatum and Tom are apples and oranges one was a dunking machine and the other largely a jump shooter.   I think Tom had Rob level athletic ability.

Isiah is not the brightest guy sometimes, but I can say with honesty that he is a nice man as I met him once and he was very generous to me as a fan.

I wouldn't go that far. At his peak, Chambers strung together two seasons where he posted 25.7/8.4 and 27.2/7.0. He was actually a better athlete than Tatum, and a bit bigger.
