We need to lose for the sake of our own pick but win for the sake of the pick due to us from the DJ White trade which might end up being the Atlanta one. While I'm here, BOLD PREDICTIONS: Rondo makes shock return to the team in the 4th quarter, Wallace makes it to 20 points from off the bench, and Sullinger single handedly eats the Hawks front court alive.I honestly don't know which one is more possible: Wallace scoring 20 or rondo returning.
what result helps us tank in this game?
Do we need to win or lose to have a better chance at a lottery pick?
I thought I was explicitly clear about this!!!

21st in pace, baby! ;)
Hump is playing very good we might get something good at the deadline.
I love Antic. I want him on the Celtics, just because he's awesome looking.

I doubt we get anything better than just his expiring contract would be for us. We'd have to take back 12mil to trade him and that would have to be expiring or it wouldn't be worth it. I can't see any trade from a contender that makes sense for Hump.

So does anyone mind posting the score every now and then? I can't follow it via box score now and apparently the NBA now doesn't let you get radio unless you buy league pass or are local.

is anyone else watching this game and thinking there's a decent possibility that the Nets/Hawks pick we get this year will end up being a better pick than our own?
If the Leastern conference wasn't so abysmal this year, there'e no way any of the 3 teams should make the playoffs.

Yeah no kidding. It is hard to evaluate what we really have with the current celtics when they are playing against such terrible teams night after night.

You've gotta think Atlanta is still going to make the playoffs.
Sadly, Milsap/Teague/Korver is a playoff team in the East.

So they are one injury away from the lottery... like most other teams right now.

Jared Sullinger eats Elton Brand alive with 20 points 17 rebounds
Please trade Crawford. He has zero basketball iq
brad just told team "last chance, last chance, either you change it up or I'm gonna change it up (talking to starters)

What happened? He has regressed so much with his decision making.
Why is Jeff Green refusing to sit down?
Why is Jeff Green refusing to sit down?
KO is having one of his better quarters of the season
My God is this horrific basketball. More power to you guys who can watch this crap. The NBA should be ashamed. The league needs to contract.
MARC EFFING DAVIS LOL
I wish I could be watching instead of working :(
I saw at one point we had an 18 pt lead? What is wrong with us blowing big leads!!!
KO looking comfortable for a change
This is the KO I was hoping would carryover from Summer League. If he could play like this consistently it would be a huge boost for this team.KO looking comfortable for a change
his shot looks excellent. alot more snap in his wrist.
and when he runs is getting rewarded this time.
Decent defense also. Again he can't save others but is trying out there utilizing his big body
olynyk silence the critics
I might be wrong, but did I just see this in the box score
Korver makes 3 pt
Gerald Wallace fouls Korver +1 free throw
Korver converted a 4 pt play?
Marc davis calling EEEVERYTHING tonight, even fouls that dont exist
If the C's lose this you don't have to look any farther than Jordan Crawford for a reason why.too many poor choices on shot selection. trying to the hero with those shots.
Marc davis calling EEEVERYTHING tonight, even fouls that dont exist
He brought the Hawks back in the game.
4-21 shooting between Crawford and Bradley tonightwith one OMG bucket for good measure :o

hump is playing well tonight, very well.
when Jcraw is out there, KO never gets a touch of the ballagreed, people thought Rondo pounded the ball -- Craw does it far more often.
The guy loves to pound the ball too much
How many people here have Milsap as an all star?this year in the Least, he looks like one. he looks more like the primary target for an Asik trade though
why was crawford shooting 3s when it is ONE point lead??????
if we've learned anything this year, Crawford and AB are not guards that should be on the floor at the end of a close game.So go with Lee and the rookie Pressey? Perhaps you prefer Bogans? It's not like they have good choices here.
tonight was a lose/lose from a tanking perspective.
Unbelievable. Just cannot believe that Stevens comes up with that POS play. Just awful
Unbelievable. Just cannot believe that Stevens comes up with that POS play. Just awfulWatch the play again. That wasn't the play. Lee broke open to the left corner. Craford was supposed to go left and use the Olynyk screen on his man for a clear pass to Lee in the corner. Crawford went right and improvised the shot.
So closing out the game with only Humphries and Crawford shooting in the last 3 minutes doesn't seem like a great plan to me.
tonight was a lose/lose from a tanking perspective.
it was just a plain hard loss to swallow. at least olly looked good and at times the celtics ran a good offensive and credible defense.
but again...the mismatched talent on this team limits what they can do. enjoyable game to watch....even with the attempted heroics by crawford.
happy new year everyone!!!!
One of the first Stevens stubborn coach moments. Hope this benching of Bass, Green and Sullinger is useful down the road. The team we had out the final minutes could not score in the clutch.

Well for a moment, we're still hanging onto the 8th seed (an E-Ticket to the Pacer Curb-Stomp Fun Ride) with our picks projected to be #15 and #20.
Good news is that if Chicago wins tonight, we'll fall out of the playoffs and be in the lotto with the 9th best odds in the draft. I mean... temporarily, of course. It's a long season.
Bad news is that Atlanta just keeps creating distance. The pick we get from Brooklyn/Hawks will be 20+.

The bad news especially bothers me. This GD Hawks team has won 3 of their last 4 by a total of 5 points. Can't wait till their luck ends, and it will. They will fall hard.
18 point lead...crap....losing, I guess helps us with our draft choice, BUT NOT TO THIS TEAM!!!
The Cs winning or losing today will be irrelevant as to whether they will be in the lottery or not...they will.

How about if they just play as well as they can and win as many games as possible and if they end up in the lottery so be it and if they end up in the playoffs, so be it.tonight was a lose/lose from a tanking perspective.
Tanking is starting to look better for the Celtics. With the upcoming schedule the Celtics should be heavy underdogs for the next 9 games. Say they go 1-8 or 2-7. And we are in top 5 territory

They'll probably be around a .500 team without Horford. Still a playoff team.Well for a moment, we're still hanging onto the 8th seed (an E-Ticket to the Pacer Curb-Stomp Fun Ride) with our picks projected to be #15 and #20.

Well, the Hawks are 18-14 but there's 50 Horford-less games left to go. I'm just worried 18 wins will be enough for the 8 seed this year.....

Especially if the chronically injured Jared Sullinger is done for the season. Our tanking hopes would sky rocket.

Maybe I'm nit-picking over terminology here, but do we really have a core? That's not meant to be an indictment on any player on this team, but we're a below .500 team in the East that appears to be more than just a player away...

Oh wow. As if it couldn't get worse... now our starters are brawling on the bench.
This is a disaster. Our team is already 5 games below .500. Our injury-prone core can't stay on the court. Over the past two seasons, Bradley has missed 28% of his games. Sully has missed 41%. And our "star point guard" has missed a whopping 68% of his games.
Meanwhile, our 2nd and 3rd highest paid players rot on our bench. Gerald Wallace is on the hook for 30 million and is statistically one of the worst players in the entire league.
Now I hear tale that two of our starters were coming to blows on the bench? Outrageous!
Only one conclusion can be drawn from all of this. Enough is enough. This isn't working. It's time.
Time to blow it up, Danny.
Yes he did indeed blow it up. He traded away two HOFers, let another one walk, and traded away the coach that won you a ring. But whatever, once you've blown up the toy, keep banging it against the wall. >:(Bass and Green benched for public altercation on bench.

CRAWFORD GIVETH AND CRAWFORD TAKETH AWAY!!!This season isn't the best ball Crawford has played. He's always been an up and down headcasey player. There's a reason why the Wizards gave him away for literally nothing.
I said it several times, Stevens has got to rein Crawford in or get rid of him. this was the Celtics game and Crawford just blew it. he hates to share the ball and therefore don't belong on this team.

Yes, we really miss Doc:-)) He has taken an upgraded Clippers team that was 25-8 last year at this point and "coached" this deeper and more talented Clipper team to 21-12. I love how almost everyone on this blog worships Doc and makes fun of Vinny Del Negro. I will bet that the Clips will NOT win 56 games as they did last year!!!

right on. I really miss doc's rotations, small ball, no offensive rebounding, and primarily jump shooting team. ::)
we never got out to leads like this last year. We just have to learn to finish. and we have nowhere near the talent. That right there shows how good stevens is. doc won in 2008 because of the big 3. he should have won again in 2010 but his crappy coaching cost us. Should have beat the heat in 7 in 2012 as well. thanks doc! ::)

You guys criticizing Doc Rivers and loving Brad Stevens will be the first guys calling for Stevens head after three losing seasons.
I said it now, January 1st 2014.
Book it. It will be happening in 2-3 years. You will all turn on him and being having similar complaints about Stevens.

I won't turn on Stevens. It didn't take long to tell he really knows basketball. My question is; Will the players turn on him? They shouldn't but the NBA has always been a players league. Managing veteran egos is what Doc was best at. His bench skills is what I often questioned.
You guys criticizing Doc Rivers and loving Brad Stevens will be the first guys calling for Stevens head after three losing seasons.

Exactly........I'm not going to turn on him either. Doc is an elite baby sitter......like Phil Jackson.......able to wipe three butts with a single smile. ....handler of the diva s...aka Howard's , Melos and Kobe's ., D wades and such . Lakers forums are already laughing at Doc , not really being all that better than Vinnie for the Clips .......we knew this all along. Doc is a YES MAN for the stars.
The big names are NOT many times the best coach..... Look what Vogel an unknown given a shot could do at Indy.
The best deal is to stay away from te D Will , Melo, Howard coach killers.......let them stay on the Lakers and Nets.
I dunno. Nick is probably right. The season is early and we've overachieved. We already have one malcontent (Gerald Wallace). Last night, two of our starters had a bit of a confrontation on the bench. Our petulant point guard hasn't even joined the equation yet.You guys criticizing Doc Rivers and loving Brad Stevens will be the first guys calling for Stevens head after three losing seasons.

I hate to jump on one line BUT Rick Pitino at the pro level was a poor coach, bad in NY, bad in Boston. Maybe he is good at college level (egotistical jerk by the way) but not a good pro coach and even worse as a gm.I dunno. Nick is probably right. The season is early and we've overachieved. Rick Pitino was a phenomenal coach who had the respect of the Celtic players early on as well... after enough losses piled up, he lost them. This team is still likely going to struggle for the next 3-5 years. Not enough talent currently... and unlikely we'll be saved by the draft if we accidentally make the playoffs this year. Let's see if you're still 100% on board with Brad after multiple years of bottomfeeder basketball. Inevitably you'll want a scapegoat.
