Per Yahoo.

Quote
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is close to hiring Rich Paul of Klutch Sports as his basketball representation, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

He was previously repped by Wasserman.

At the conclusion of this season, the three-time All-Star will have a year remaining on the five-year, $82 million contract he signed in 2015.

Green, 28, is arguably the most versatile defender in the league and will be a coveted free-agent target in the summer of 2020 if an extension isn’t reached with the Warriors this upcoming offseason.

Paul has added All-Star Anthony Davis, Markieff and Marcus Morris, and Green to his company’s roster in the last six months.

Paul also represents LeBron James, John Wall, Ben Simmons, Tristan Thompson and Eric Bledsoe, among others.

Green is averaging 7.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 43 games this season for the Warriors.

Good move for Draymond. Rich Paul has got lucrative contracts for his clients in similar situations ( basically his clients teams had to resign them because they couldn’t replace them ) :
Bledsoe - Phoenix
Tristan Thompson - cavs
Jr Smith - cavs
Looks like next summer there will be contract drama with green if warriors don’t trade him before that

How is it fair for a player to own a sports agency? I think if a player owns a sports agency, that can agency can only represent that player, their family, and no one else (at least for the same sport)

So Lebrons agency could only represent him and his son, etc

On the subject of whether or not Lebron James has an interest in Klutch Sports, on the web you just run into fanboy "Brian Windhorst says" the NBA determined he didn't. The NBA can easily speak for itself, but on this subject it isn't doing so.

Legally, LeBron has no stake in Klutch. He couldn't. It would be a huge violation of the CBA.

But....it's pretty clear he is the defacto founder and a someone with a major say in the agency.

Is this (the no stake) true? Like you’re sure of that?

Edit: Apparently it’s true. https://www.si.com/nba/2017/07/31/lebron-james-klutch-sports-group-ownership-investigation

I know Draymond brings a lot more to the table than scoring, but it would be pretty wild if a 7ppg scorer was able to secure a max contract. I am sure he is hiring Rich Paul because he needs his 'brand' to be sold as much as any player in the coming year.

I don’t think this is reality still. He might not be able to hold shares now but he’s advocating for the group. He surely doesn’t make a dime from them now but long term this has to be a revenue stream for him.

Interesting story on how Paul and Lebron met. Paul was selling sports memorabilia out of a car. Lebron took a liking to him and eventually agreed to use him as an agent.

Conflicts of interest surely abound. But could say they same when McHale chose to trade Garnett instead of Lakers.

The bigger story is a Lebron using his power to help African Americans achieve great success in the business world. I tip my hat.

Actually, I'm all for that! Trade or FA signing, if that's what the Lakers spend their trade capital and $$$ on (+ extension), then that's great news!

Green was a much better overall player but he's regressed.

I think some team will definitely over pay for him and they will totally regret it.
