Yes, I'll be Tivo-ing the Sox

I have been given a choice of 3 movies for this evening by my beloved.

1) Burn After Reading
2) Blindness
3) I SERVED THE KING OF ENGLAND (Czech comedy w/ subtitles)

Anyone seen any of these?  Suggestions?  Two comedies, and one suspense movie.
Yup

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I'd go with burn after reading, haven't seen it but it's the cohen brothers so it can only be but so bad. I am gonna do my best to check out "Quarantine" before the Sox tonight, supposed to be really good, at least I hope so.

Yes, just got a call from my wife, and Quarantine has been added to the list.  For whatever reason Burn After Reading is only playing at 2:20 so it's off the list.
Yup

Which ever one is shortest.

So you'll be Tivo'ing the Sox game.  What about the Celtics?

I have an old Tivo so I can't do both.  Celts preseason will have to be the sacrificial lamb this evening I'm afraid.  I'm sure I can find out all I'll need to know right here.

I'd get a new Tivo or DVR or whatever, but I signed up for Tivo back when they had the lifetime fees offer.  I paid like $200 about 5 years ago.  The idea of never having to pay for the service again keeps me from upgrading.  The drawback is, I can only record one thing at a time.
Yup

I've seen 1) and 3).

"I served the King of England" is not exactly a comedy. Yes, there's no lack of humour, but I'd call it tragicomic. Visually, is a very interesting and powerful movie, extremely imaginative. That and the historical reconstitution of the Central Europe during the 1st half of the 20th century are the best things the movie has to offer - the collective psyche of those times was very well captured, there's a very "musilian" tone. However, something is missing. It leaves this "it could have been much better" taste in your mouth.

I was very disappointed with "Burn after reading", mostly because I had high expectations. Still a decent movie, I guess; but surely one of their worsts. Lots of good comedy moments, but from the Cohen brothers one shall expect more than that.

I prefer "I served the King of England", but it's so close that I won't advise you one over the other.

Easy solution...Tivo the replay of the Celts game at 2AM.

Ended up seeing Quarantine.  My wife liked it better than I did (at least the parts where she wasn't buried in my arm).  It was OK for what it was, but I felt like the non-stop suspense would have worked better if there was an occasional respite from the suspense.

Still, a fun night out, and I managed to catch up to live Red Sox action by a little after 11.

Thanks for that cordobes, I'd only glanced at the title and read a line or two about it.
