Danny will not be so busy in the off-season outside block buster trades and big signings. ECF have shown the flaws of this team that needs to be addressed:

-Bench depth
-veteran leadership
-mobile defensive bigs

Who will be your ideal targets for the off season?

Here's what I have on mind

Bigs:
Serge Ibaka - championship experience, can space the floor as a big and reliable rim protector
Bobby Portis - volatile player but maybe the intensity spark we need
Mason Plumlee - solid center who just got a deep playoff run as Jokic's backup.
Tristan Thompson - another big with championship experience. Can crash boards and defend the perimeter
Aaron Baynes - actually knows Brad's system and solid during his stint here
Paul Millsap - former all-star, helped Nuggets reached WCF this year. Would provide solid veteran presence
Derick Favors - he's been on c's fan shopping list for a long time now. Hayward and Kanter's former teammate.
David Bertans - Should have been a buyout market candidate this year.

Wings:
Danillo Gallanari - versatile wing with consistent scoring
Evan Turner - former C's with experience playing under Brad. Solid swiss-army knife player and solid ball-handler
Nic Batum - overpaid in Charlotte will probably come cheap this time around
Etwaun Moore - solid veteran with career 39% 3-pt shooting
Joe Harris - solid sharpshooter who played alongside with C's main players in the 2019 USA Team
DJ Augustin - another solid PG

Mason Plumlee was trash against the Lakers, also reason why they lost Game 2...pass on him. Paul Millsap is cooked. I'll take Tristan Thompson, Serge Ibaka, or Aron Baynes (familiar with the system).

while I'd like to have several to the players mentioned, I don't see Danny paying them what they'll be able to get on the open market.  Ibaka would be a top choice as would Thompson but they'll command more than the MLE.  So will Gallinari.  Baynes and Milsap would be good additions but would need to pay more than we should (or have) to get them.

looking at the list of who's available that we could reasonably afford and no one jumps out at me as a great acquisition target for Danny

I think many of those players will be outside our price range.  Bertrans, Baynes, Harris and Gallo should all get well over the Taxpayer MLE.

Forgive me, but don't we have the full MLE this off-season?

We will be above the tax line assuming Hayward doesn’t opt out.  Using the regular MLE would hard cap us at the apron.

I've been functioning under a different set of numbers. What is your source on that? I've been using shamsports, even though it doesn't seem like it is quite updated, it looked close to me.

Shamsports, Hoopshype, Sportrac.  All have us over the luxury tax.

Tristan Thompson would be best for but going to be over price range. Only way Cs get better will likely have to be via trade and internal development.

I think our most likely way of getting under is if Hayward opts our and they stretch him a few years at a lower annual rate. Then we we could access the full MLE.

A true big that rebounds and defends would be great, but I'm happy to run it back after that.  Maybe we hit on a buyout candidate this year, or disgruntled vets see that we're now legit contenders.

PG: Haliburton / Derrick White / Satoransky / De'Anthony Melton*
SG: Seth / Thybulle / Nesmith / Robert Woodard II / Isaiah Joe / Pat Connaughton / Sam Merrill
SF: Mikal Bridges / Joe Ingles / Saddiq Bey / Maurice Harkless / Cedi Osman
PF: PJ Washington / Finney-Smith / Bjelica / Tyler Bey / McDermott / Patrick Patterson
C: Ben Simmons (I'd use him at the 5) / Christian Wood* / Precious Achiuwa / Nerlens Noel / Harry Giles / Noah Vonleh (I'd use him at the 5) / Drew Eubanks

*Wood is outside our price range unless we shed some serious salary. To a lesser extent, the same goes for Melton.

If we could trade for Terence Ross or Layman without compromising much of our salary cap would be great addition especially on shooting and hustle.

A big might really be difficult to acquire as most would command high price.  Noel,  maybe.  We may have to get a big in the draft. Okungwu or Azuibuke.

Yeah but then we just lose that 34 million dollars in cap essentially. If Hayward opted out we'd be just barely under the cap line. So sure we could use the full MLE, but then we'd be out of 24-25 million in our space that we could no longer use.
