Each of the 193 pages lists 50 CelticsBlog members. I am on page 3 of 193 pages of CelticsBlog members, so that' seems pretty high up there.
However, there are about 89 pages of members who have ZERO POSTS.
There are 23 pages of members with only 1 post.
There are 9 pages of members with only 2 posts.
There are 6 pages of members with only 3 posts.
There are 4 pages of members with only 4 posts.
So, only 61 out of 193 pages are of people who have at least 5 posts, less than one-third. Roughly two-thirds of CelticsBlog members never post or have posted only a few times. In other words, they are just reading, which you can do without joining.
Where am I going with this? Not sure but playing with numbers is fun.

I have 4 letters for you: S-P-A-M. I wonder how many of those bogus accounts there are.
I could be in the top 10 posters, only Roy's hogging 2 spots.

There are posts and there are quality posts. Wow, 6K posts since Jan 13,Concourse, you must be proud of that accomplishment, what's next a cure for cancer?
I bet some will leave the board when we suck. Human nature to follow a winner.
-
hmm, page 1. a bit surprised by that not it's not much of an accomplishment.
The only thing this list does for me is show me how much of a putz/jerk the guy who stole my original name is -- made it a point to sneak in and grab it just so he could post a whopping 300+ posts in the past 6 years.

Time expended. ;D
I think I'm up there in post number but I have been doing it for 6 years. And my posts tend to go on some because I just can't keep my mouth shut. Of course, that's cost me as well, so.....
Where was I? I thinking I'm rambling again. :D

Looks like I'm up there too. 7 years and counting...

I have more respect for a guy who has been here a while than someone that gets 6K posts in six months but that is just me.
-
Now in a 3-way tie for 523rd.
i have been posting here since the summer of 2010, but have been reading this site for much longer than that.
I have to admit, this sight amazes me. Lots of good, funny, knowledgeable posters here. Of all of my favorite sports teams websites, this is the one I visit the most. Jeff has made this site so welcoming for all.

I enjoyed the days when Edgar and I would flip flop in post count every few months.
Nowadays I'm barely posting at all and Edgar still isn't closing the gap. Might be time to starting posting in the Ask Edgar thread again.

Still 53. However, no more 50 posts a day so I'm not breaking the top 50 :)

Only 952 posts to go. :P

206!!! didnt think i was this high :D

I don't want to be Ray Allen :'(
It seems the names for post ranks has changed recently. I have been Bill Walton for quite some time, about a year, and I was looking forward to being Don Chaney in another 650 posts or so. Now I see I am suddenly Ray Allen. WHY THE CHANGE MODS? I am genuinely upset. ???
Was this done to cut out PP and KG levels? If so, why not cut out RA too? Better yet, just keep all the names of former Celtics regardless if they are on other teams, or retired, I see no difference.

We change the posting levels once a year, when the team changes.
This year, Pierce and KG got elevated higher in the pantheon, and Ray got added as a former great. His contribution to the team is at least as great as Chaney's, so he's recognized (popular or not).

Can I petition to stay Satch Sanders forever?

It would be cool if getting more posts just "unlocked" more choices - so that people could pick a name for their rank, and choose from more players as they progressed, but also keep their old name if they so chose.
This would allow people to keep being, e.g., Pierce forever once they unlocked him.
Also you could give a few choices at each rank.
It would be fun for the first time posters:
Before you post for the first time, please choose which player name will appear under your avatar:
A. Fab Melo
B. Brett Szabo
C. Jerome Moiso
D. Kedrick Brown
E. Eric Fernsten
Etc.

I loved that I was the only guy on the blog that was Dave Cowens, my childhood hero along with Hondo, for a while. Then that so-and-so Fafnir had to break 23,000 and ruin it!! >:( >:( ;D
-
Just a personal opinion, but nobody should have to suffer the indignity of "being" Judas Shuttlesworth.
Just. Not. Right.
I must say, though, I never did think I'd have 4000+ posts on an internet blog. Always thought it was lame. Turns out there's some people cool people out there. Well, that and I like to tell other people how right I am, and how wrong they are.

I miss my goverment days.....
haha Dr. Edgar is semi retired but i can still give one or two advices for broken hearts and inocent souls...

Agreed, especially on that last point.
Is there anything as fun as arguing politics on the celticsblog CE forum?

But I have no fear. My numbers still show a compulsion on this site.

Given the amount of Celtic records that Rondo holds, I am surprised he is so low on the scale. Just this man's opinion but I think Rondo at this point deserves to be more in the Danny Ainge/Ed MacCauley range than the Jared Sullinger/Jeff Green range.

He'll probably be moved up a couple of slots in time, but for now, we can only antagonize the fan base so much.

I also thought that A, Walker was much too high. The speed, intent, and lack of quality with which I posted to get past that label was truly amazing, but sad..

If you've got a non-arbitrary way of assigning post-based member groups on a basketball message board, let us know.
But yes, the recent trade led to a reclassification, as Rondo belongs in the pantheon. Luckily, since we're unlikely to have any Celtics stars for awhile, this shouldn't be a continuing problem.

I had thought the multi-star ranks were loosely based on a poll we did of Top 25 Celtics of all-time. Might not be a bad time to redo the poll.
Could do a separate one to assign the lower ranks attached to current players, but they change so fast there's probably little point.

Instead of being sarcastic, just tell me why 2000-2999 was changed from Bailey Howell to Ray Allen. My issue is not with assigning names to ranges, but why the names have to change for given ranges. Now I will never get to be Jim Luscotoff, for example. My next level is Antoine Walker 3000-3999, unless of course the names assigned change again.

When somebody new is added, that shifts things. If it's that important to be Locsy, you can start over with a Surferdad 2.0 account.
I understand that this is important to you, but in the grand scheme of life, it's fairly trivial (and is meant to be).
Ray Allen made more of an impact for the Celtics. He played here longer, and made more All-star games. Thus, his rank is higher (but still relatively low, due to the way he left town).

Too much work for too little reward. Plus, it doesn't really solve the "arbitrary" critique. If anything, we would see a lot of modern era bias.

Woah... I post way too much on this forum
-
I think I was initially afraid to post in a forum because I'd never done so before, lol. I know, pathetic. After making an account on here, though, after we won the title, lol, I really never posted regularly until last season, I believe (and I'm sure that most people would prefer that I had continued that trend, lol ;D), so it was kind of funny to see my average posts per day be under, like .3, lol, so I just wanted to just get my average over 1, haha. ;D You see, guys - anything is possible (sarcasm)! ;D Woot, woot! I need to start setting goals for myself, lol. ;) ;D
That aside, I never thought that there was a master list for posts or anything. I just like Tommy Points. ;D

Tonight I turn from Ray Allen into Bailey Howell!
I've been turned back into Ray Allen! Bummer. I really don't like this arbitrary reclassification.
If you've got a non-arbitrary way of assigning post-based member groups on a basketball message board, let us know.
You missed my point entirely. It's not that I want to be Locsy specifically, but it is a fun little game to aspire to the next level. Sure it's not life or death but so what? It was fun to think about racking up another thousand posts this season and get elevated to the next level. I was Bailey Howell for a few hundred posts, now I feel like I am back one level.
Also, I don't really care what the rationale was for certain players at different levels and whether they were of higher historical stature or not. I really just want the rules to not change in this little game of "poster's prestige" we play.
-
Can we just have the ranks not include current players, so that we don't have to shuffle them all the time?

Interesting idea, and the opportunity might be presenting itself now, especially at the higher post ranks because the team has no transcendent players currently. Would be great to just freeze the names and their ranks for all levels greater than 1000 posts.

They're static for now, and the 1000+ levels probably will be for awhile, unless Danny pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

I'm not ignorant to your point, but honestly, having a lot of posts on an internet message board isn't that prestigious. If anything, it just gets you a lot of well-deserved grief from your spouse. If you haven't had the pleasure, just trust me on this one.

I feel like Rajon Rondo should now be in the thousands mark.
IIRC, The Rajon Rondo rank is in the hundreds? I think he earned the thousands.

It moved up, which is what prompted this particular bump of the thread.
He's at 5000 now.

The goal is Larry Bird. I hope this site is open until for 15 more years. If so, I might just get there.
And maybe Larry Legend status can be 33,000 posts. Just an idea.

Lol. My wife actually enjoys me watching the Celtics and posting in the game threads. It saves her from hearing my dumb comments and saves me from seeing her roll her eyes, like she doesn't care, when I tell her how bad KO is playing.
She especially hates it when I rewind the DVR. ;)

Ever think about trading Ray Allen for someone else? I am definitely not looking forward to being him for 1000 posts and there are certainly a lot of people that don't consider him a true Celtic.
Edit: Just saw somebody wanted him higher. Guess you can't win. Also just was missing the days you could give negative tommy points. That was the greatest invention.

33,000 posts, eh? That's only 10x a day every day for 9 years. Totally doable

They had negative Tommy Points here at one time? I'm guessing it caused some controversy and fights back and forth, which is probably why it was done away with. That's probably the same reason FB won't create a dislike button lol

We've had quite the few Tommy Point controversies over the years.
Even had a TP-Gate.

I had a lot of fun with TP-Gate. Its too bad some took it as accusatory and not in the humorous manner it was meant as.

TPs are great and I have to actively try to not focus on them when I'm posting here. The most embarrasing to me is when someone posts "TP! nice post" after something I wrote and then I notice that my TP counter didn't go up. I have to try really hard not to memorize their handle, when I should be glad someone liked my post. I feel like MacGruber and the KFBR392 license plate

I agree. I'll be there in a little while, and I'm not looking forward to looking at his name associated with mine for 1000 posts.
I'm looking at all the names up there, and I'm not seeing anyone that so many Cs fans have real animosity towards (while many don't) aside from him. Rondo and 'Toine may have been polarizing figures here, but heck, put James Posey or Gerald Henderson up there before Allen.
-
... put James Posey or Gerald Henderson up there before Allen.
Ray was a 3-time all-star here, and set the all-time record for threes while in green. He also scored 51 points in a playoff game, tied for second in team playoff history. He's a big part of recent Celtics history.
-
I don't mind Allen being on the list, but then again, I have never really cared what player I was associated with due to my post count.
I do have to admit I kinda thought it was cool to be the only Tommy Heinsohn on the board for a while. Thanks for killing that feeling, Roy. ;) ;D

Benedict Arnold contributed mightily to the Patriots cause prior to his betrayal because he was looked over for a position (that sounds familiar to me) and Judas was one of the most respected of the apostles before he got his 30 pieces of silver (ah, but Ray was much more honorable because he only took 15 compared to the 30 we offered, to intentionally stick it to Ainge, Doc and Rondo, his pals (KG and PP) who blocked his trade for Mayo be [dang]ed.

It's an old argument, but I still don't understand why loyalty is a one-way street. The Celtics can repeatedly try to trade Ray, but he's a traitor for deciding his own fate in free agency?
Without Ray Allen, we're still stuck on 16.

It may be an old argument, and I agree that that point of view has been around since Allen left, but if you intend to connote "old argument" as a baseless, tired, old saw as it sometimes is used, I very much disagree.
The loyalty that he owed wasn't to Ainge who tried to trade him, nor to Doc who started Bradley over him,nor to Rondo who lobbied Doc to start Bradley over Allen. I get why he wanted to get back at them, especially given his diva-ness.
Rather, the loyalty that he owed was to KG and PP, the guys who kept him here. Pretty clear about how KG feels about him.
And we may not have won 17 without him, but one could make the argument that we wouldn't have won that year without Posey, also.

That sounds about right, I am not so bitter at Allen as I was a year ago.
In any case, I am very pleased to have recently been elevated to Antoine Walker status. He is one of my favorite Celtics of all time!

Man, I am only a couple of hundred posts from page 2 and Antoine Walker; it gives me something to aim for. I wish the posts from past versions of CB counted, but can't complain as this version has been great for years now.
What a great site!

I'm curious about how the numbers were affected during TP-Gates (aside from punishments to those caught "cheating"). I know Roy H. set himself back something like 40k TPs to show they don't mean anything, did others do the same?

Wow, made to 5000, Rajon Rondo level. It took me more than a whole NBA season to go from Antoine Walker (4000) to Rondo status. The milestones ahead just keep getting harder.

Snakehead and CoachBo were pesky but I got past them. For a while I was competing with saltlover, but then he flipped on the supercharger and blew me away. Now he is on the cusp of getting Tiny Archibald status.

Wow, made to 5000, Rajon Rondo level. It took me more than a whole NBA season to go from Antoine Walker (4000) to Rondo status. The milestones ahead just keep getting harder.
It only took me about 6 months to go from Rajon Rondo (5000) to Paul Silas (6000) level. Am I posting more often, or are the Celtics becoming more interesting lately?
I am motivated to move from page 2 to page 1 which is currently around 8200 posts, and be among the elite CB posters. 8)
I am neck and neck with you buddy! I am posting more than ever cause I have a job that has a lot of down time now during the day.
I see that celticsclay! A job with lots of downtime eh? I can't compete with that. >:(
Snakehead and CoachBo were pesky but I got past them. For a while I was competing with saltlover, but then he flipped on the supercharger and blew me away. Now he is on the cusp of getting Tiny Archibald status.
I didn't realize there was a contest. ;) Also, I'm a little frightened to ask, but about when do you think I turned on the supercharger, and how many posts has that been? I might have to send myself to rehab...

I'm looking forward to passing the 3000 mark and getting another star, but I am NOT looking forward to being Ray Allen. I'd rather be Tony Allen or even Allan Ray

Man, I am only a couple of hundred posts from page 2 and Antoine Walker; it gives me something to aim for. I wish the posts from past versions of CB counted, but can't complain as this version has been great for years now.
What a great site!

It's been over the past 4-5 weeks, salty. We were pretty close approaching the 6000-post Paul Silas level, now you are like 900 posts ahead of me. :'(

Most of mine were from the Neolithic era, but I'm still hanging around like Vince Carter.

:o I might have to take a break. CBA might soon stand for Celticsblog Anonymous in my world.

Im ok at page 21, most of the time I read only. don't even log in sometimes just read.
A lot of good posters out there, using math and everything. Learned also on NBA rules here, salary here and there.

I am happy to be the only Larry Bird on the blog.

I'm very pleased to have recently gained another star and Tiny Archibald status, the Celtics last great "little man". This season I climbed through Rajon Rondo and Paul Silas levels, it's been an active season. Next goal is Don Nelson level followed shortly by breaking through to PAGE 1, and be among the true royalty of forum posters. 8)

TP....I remember when I used to post that much. I didn't have much of life back then.

Well, I guess you can add me to the ranks of the select few here, as this is post #10,000 for me.
It's funny, when I first joined CB I started out on the front page and never really considered joining the forums. I quickly realized there's so much more here to offer, though, and here I am years later still posting away.
I've had my share of arguments and posts I would probably like to take back, but I hope I've contributed at least a little something to the forum.
