Dwight Powell torn Achilles ! That sucks big time for him and mavs.
On the flip side they might be a trade partner in a Drummond deal

What can they offer for Drummond?

They've got plenty of salary (Lee, Hardaway, Wright), so it's just a matter of the right picks. If the market for Drummond is as dead as it sounds (I remember reading reports stating that they couldn't even get a first round pick for him), then maybe Dallas could nab him.

Powell plus Courtney lee ... this way we don’t have to deal with Drummond for Hayward trade proposals lol

They could use Kemba like they do Seth Curry when Doncic has the ball, and when Doncic is off the court or not handling they would have a much better option to give them some good offense. Instead they use JJ Barea or Tim Hardaway a LOT. Which is kinda scary to have in your playoff rotation. So much burden on Doncic....

The Mavericks already have an absolutely elite offense overall, so I don't think Kemba takes them to a title contender just because the flaws that hold them back aren't on that side of the ball. He would set them up to contend perhaps next season if they could shift their roster to shore up the D.

Of course Doncic is so young, no rush to contend this season.

Why would Detroit want a player who just signed a fairly big extension for his level of player who just tore his achilles?

Yeah they have salaries they can use.

I'm not sure they would want Drummond. They only play one big man who can't shoot 3s, Boban. Drummond doesn't fit how they're setting records on offense at all.

Doncic take so many garbage threes. Its amazing he's such an efficient scorer despite those shots.

For sure, Drummond is a much much worse shooter than even their worst shooting big. It's really just a matter of if they want him or not. I don't think that they're impatient enough to go all-in so early.

I think Dedmon could be a good pick-up for them. He can shoot, rebound and defend, and Sac really don't want him anymore

They wouldn't, but they have plenty of salary components they could use in a trade.  I think a more interesting discussion would be Griffin.  I think he'd be an interesting pairing next to the Zinger and his floor spacing and passing would work well with Luka and the Zinger.  Obviously he is out this year, but maybe Dallas decides he is the best use of cap space going forward, especially with them losing Powell.  There are a bunch of different potential trades out there that would save Detroit money this year and a lot long term

Doncic really struggling at the line lately, missing that first one was killer.

Ben Simmons last 7 games stats

21.9ppg 9.1rpg 7.9apg

Team has 5 wins 2 losses without Embiid

Snapshot of what Simmons would be capable of if he played somewhere else on a team build around him? I think so.

I’m not so sure. 4 of those came against Brooklyn, New York & Chicago.

I think he could certainly put up good regular season numbers on a team built around him, but I don’t think they’d go far.

It's more of a snapshot of what Simmons would be capable of if teams weren't obsessed with finding the next Magic Johnson. I see Simmons as a Draymond/Pippen hybrid, he's not a half court maestro but he can provide massive value to good teams that have quality offensive pieces with his versatile defence and excellent passing in transition and the post.

I don't see Drummond being a fit in Dallas at all. They need another shooter/scorer. Preferably a wing.

Drummond would clog up their cap space and deny them the opportunity to get that player that would put them over the top. To go after a non-shooter / non-scorer - that player would have to have huge defensive value which Drummond simply does not have.
