We've done mock historical drafts. We missed the mock trade deadline. What about a mock off-season?

Different stages:
Stage 1: Draft
Stage 2: Free agency
Stage 3: Trades

We would give a few weeks to each stage. I'd need another Commish (preferably one who can help with free agent signings) to help me manage the stages and act as unused teams, but it might be fun.  We'd take a forum-wide vote at the end to see who did the best.

If there is sufficient interest and I get another person to help me Commish, I'll write out the full rules and timeline for the mock off-season.

At three, each person could take 10 teams. Hopefully, we can get a few more. Any other interest board?

I'm interested, but I have very little knowledge regarding the draft prospects this year. I also have finals until June lol.

Good news, I don't have a lot either. When in doubt, use KOC's draft guide and pick the best player.

Six so far. Be nice to get at least 10. I'll automate the other teams.

Lol I'd prefer watching tape with you guys about historical players tbh, but that works. I'll be using scouting reports from The Stepien as well then.

Others?

How time consuming is this going to be? (I work 40+ hours a week and time difference is an issue)

I know very little yet about this year's draft. How is the draft going to take place? All at once during the weekend or during the week?

How is free agency going to look like? Can you give some indication about the set-up?

I'm interested in the concept, just don't know whether I'll have time to be an involved participant.

I have a lot of commitments too. I'm not sure how the draft will work, but it will be over an extended period (week or something). Its unrealistic for all of us to be able to sync up our schedules. We'd do two rounds though. I'd use an unnamed mock draft to automate team decisions, while rolling dice to add some variety (I was thinking something like roll two dice each pick and if doubles are rolled, that number on the dice, skip that amount of prospects and pick the next player. Just to add some basic variety without me being in control of everything.

I'd find some expected value for key free agents and start around there for negotiations. I'd roll dice to give some variety and see how negotiations work with the teams. I'm not going to negotiate for the Brad Wanamakers of the world. I think we can focus on the top 8-10 of the roster and assume the rest is filled with minimums. Unless there is a specific binkie that someone wants for some reason (holding out hope for Bender or something).

Trades will be pretty straight forward (use realgm or espn trade machine or prove your trade would work), but we might establish some rule with a maximum of two trades to keep things easy and practical to track.

Admittedly this will probably be less stringent on the rules. I'm not throwing out the rules, but I'd rather focus on fun, use common sense, and try to mirror what an off-season could realistically look like for teams if they took different directions.
