As for Al Horford, Udoka said he remains in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and that while there’s a chance he could exit them in time to play, he remains doubtful for Game 2. Marcus Smart remains on track to return tonight in Game 2.
For those looking for an update, see above. It does seems strange that Horford hasn't been officially ruled out. If he tested negative yesterday and needed another negative test today, you'd think it'd be more clear.
Looking further into it, apparently there are three ways in which a player can clear protocols: 5 days without symptoms, 2 negative tests in 24 hours, or (and I guess this is the part we are dealing with) something about the CT values being low enough. Perhaps this is what is being tracked and what is leaving open the possibility of him playing. Unfortunately the 'doubtful' label doesn't give me much hope.
