Kyrie will have no problem getting a max deal from someone else. He has star power. He is a scorer. Teams love that stuff. Someone out there will look past all his issues and give him max money if Brooklyn doesn't.

I didn't read that as Brooklyn didn't want Kyrie, I read that as we aren't giving Kyrie a 5 year max contract.  I'm sure they'd sign him at max for a year or two though, especially if that is what Durant wants.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I wouldn't be shocked to see Kyrie for Anthony Davis this summer.

Kyrie for Westbrook would be better. Kyrie reunites with Lebron, Westbrook reunites with KD lol

I'd be very hesitant to give Kyrie 250M. I mean people seem to be forgetting, but even during the 2021 season Kyrie legit took "time off" for no apparent reason ("personal reasons" which apparently included attending a birthday party too).

The Nets are going to be a circus with Kyrie + Simmons next season and potentially beyond lol

I would be looking to move on myself because Kyrie's not worth $250MM even when he does play. He's not a franchise player.

That’s where it gets tricky.  Is it better to overpay for a player that isn’t worth it, or get nothing / a trade exception?

That would be an amazing deal for BKN.

Imagine a frontline of AD, B.Simmons and Durant. Man that is a dynamic frontcourt.

Does LeBron really want to re-up with Kyrie? Soap opera, I think. And how bad will that defense be? Can’t see them as any kind of threat to come out of the west. Of course they have trouble with AD but this seems to make them worse.

True, for the 12 games they played together per season.  Haha.

I mean the lakers would love that. But I think kd would veto that deal. Don’t think he enjoys Westbrook very much. There were rumors the lakers had discussion for kyrie this past season internally (odd leaked story). Kyrie for AD or Kyrie for Lebron would be fascinating. I am sure Lebron would love to win a title with a 4th team for his legacy and probably has a better chance with Durant than always injured Davis. Not that they are amazing but curry, brown, Claxton and dragic if they bring him back are mikes better than anything in lakers supporting cast.

I’m not a 100% convinced Ben Simmons wants to play basketball. He got his money for his veneers and his celebrity fiancée. What’s the point of playing ball?

Can Marks say this without some sort of tacit approval from Durant?

Depending on what the trade looked like I could almost see Brooklyn acquiring Westbrook and immediately buying him out.  I'm not saying the Nets should do that, but getting out of the Irving headache and picking up some 1sts (like 26 and 28) and maybe a young guy like Reaves may very well be better than the alternative of paying Irving a max deal.  And I don't think Irving is going to have a great market if he is officially on the trade block.

The question for the Nets is, do they want to deal with the headache that is Irving, especially when they have Simmons signed long term.

I guess Marks didn't agree with Kyrie's comments about including him in their list management processes.
