Great, Tony Brothers is reffing the game. The Celtics do terribly when he refs, but I still have to think the NBA would be delighted if this series goes 7.

It looks like I didn’t get my Tommy point for posting first, drats.

Game 2 was must win and we responded.  Now we have to do it again.

Game 3, the two players that hurt us the most were Smart and RWill.  They were -11 when one or both were on the court.  They were +9 when neither was on the court.  Need to correct that, and I suspect they will.

Otherwise, I was not able to watch game 3 so I don't have much to offer in terms of adjustments.  This is probably going to be more about how the teams respond to pressure more than Xs and Os.

I think we have the coach to help this team regain focus. He has a ton of tape to show what happens when this team digs in on defense, and recently has new tape to show what happens when the players quit playing D to complain.

This is not rocket science. They need 48 minutes of concerted effort on the defensive end to win game 4. I'm excited to see it.

Let's go Celtics.

Celtics are just 2-10 (.167) in playoff games since 2015 with Tony Brothers officiating

Brothers has officiated 109 Celtics games in his career with Boston above .500 (59-50) in those matchups. The Bucks have had Brothers as an official in 106 games with Milwaukee below .500 (50-56) in those contests. Brothers has been officiating in the league since 1994-95 campaign, including some hot and cold runs among each of the two franchises.

The home team has a .550 win percentage in Brothers’ games this season and a .574 win percentage in his career (1,676 games). Hosts have a slight edge in free throws attempted (23.5 to 22.7) this season while visitors are called for more fouls (20.5 to 20.2), despite that margin being slim. Those numbers corelate in Brothers’ extensive career as the hosts benefit from more free throw attempts (24.9 to 24.2) with more fouls called on the visitors (20.5 to 20.2).

I know many here don’t love Bill Simmons, but his take on last night’s podcast I agree with: this is a “look under the hood game” for Tatum. What are you made of? Top-5 players bounce back in a big way from games like the last one.

yeah well let's see what comes down from league office tonight. obviously they won't let the golden child foul out in the 4th quarter much less first half LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE LAST GAME which is despicable. However, it may be in their best interests this goes 7. fluid situation. we covered it in the around nba thread  below.

If this guy is putting his thumb on the scale of games, he is doing so in a way that is hard to detect from the overall aggregate of the outcomes.  If anything, the league should want the Celtics to win this game so that the series has a better chance of going 7 games.

I think everyone sees that Giannis is going to get the calls in his favor far more than say someone like Theis or even Tatum but that is not specific to any official or game.  That is just the way the league has been for some time.  That is probably the biggest advantage that the Bucks have over us.

I don't see much point in taking it much further than that though.  I am not saying there is definitely nothing more to it, just that I am not going to worry about it.  If we play better, we can beat the Bucks.

Forget the refs.

Forget special treatment of Giannis.

We just need to play hard from the opening whistle, with intent and focus.  Trust one another.  We do that, we should win the game. We are at our best when we play as a team.

Let's get this series evened up and get back to the garden 2-2!!

I just want Tatum to play hard and with a purpose, not necessarily trying to score at least 40 points. Let the game come to him.  He has been a little frustrated by the single coverage of Matthews. We need to get him in some pick and roll action, where he can excel as a playmaker. I find his best games are when his principal focus is making plays for his teammates, that is when the defenses break down and he goes bananas.
