Article is behind a pay wall but the globe is reporting the cs are in talks with Orlando for Ross.  Dennis, another player and a pick.

Wow. That’s the sharpshooter we need.

Not really.  Over the past 5.5 years, Ross has been above-average on 3PTs exactly once.  He’s a mediocre shooter at this stage.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rosste01.html

Seems like he shoots 99% against Celtics.

Hehe yeah. That was the basis for my statement. He always played well against us. Didn’t know he wasn’t really that good of a shooter overall.

I honestly believe that even Evan Fournier is a better scorer of the bench than Terrence Ross.
For a similar salary I'd prefer Luke Kennard (sneaky good shooter).

I am not a fan of Ross.  Mass Live said its Romeo, Dennis and a pick.  Thats a lot.

That is a lot. Schroder and Romeo are both shooting better from 3 pt.

At the same time, Wiggins goes to GSW and he is suddenly deadly. Look at his splits! And now that he's played 120 games, it's a decent sample. Without checking his shot types, I'm guessing he is taking a lot more catch and shoot, which is exactly what Ross would be doing..

EDIT: Wiggins is taking more than double the amount of corner threes than he did in Minny

Andrew Wiggins was the 1st pick in his draft and is 26. He matured late. Terrence Ross is 31, is on an awful team and hasn’t started for years.

Sure, but taking double the amount of corner 3s has nothing to do with "maturation"

Ross almost always had a role where he has needed to shoot threes off the dribble/spot up. Those Lowry/Demar teams he was on had fairly useless benches - he was the primary facilitator when he was on the floor, and relatively rarely spotted up.

You look at his three best shooting years (13-14 = .395, 18-19 = .383, 19-20 = .351); they were also his highest volume of threes attempted years. Also note that that 18-19 was the season he took his most catch and shoot threes.

I take your point that he is older, and maybe a step slower, though. This team does seem to thrive on quickness, and passing. That's not really him (although he is a very smart slasher, so).

I like Kennard - but no way the clips move him.

There’s no way that’s true. Schroder is better than Ross alone.

I like Ross but he isn’t having a good year.

Same. Hard to believe this ownership group would do it, too. He makes $12.5M this year. If they acquire him they’ll find it hard to match or to shed enough salary elsewhere to stay out of the tax. Go into the tax for this guy - a bench player on the woeful Magic who’s shooting 40/30 this year?!?

That means he will be great in practice.

I'd much rather the Cs do absolutely nothing than do this deal - like end the season in the tax by $800k nothing (which would be a horrible move). Schroder is a much better player than Ross and Ross is more expensive. Seriously, just an awful proposal.

Let's hope this is just a poorly informed rumor.  My reaction is that there is no possible way we would give up that to get Ross.  It makes absolutely no sense.

This works and puts Cs 165k over lux tax

Cs get Ross and Semi

Bucks get Schroeder and Freedom

Magic get Langford, Hill , and Bucks 1st

The next move is to sell Dozies deal off for a second and hope for a bit out big man

Why the heck do we want Semi back?  He was another of projects that didn't work out!  #facepalm
