In Dejounte Murray? Yes.

Very good glue guy. Speed, dribble penetration, playmaking, size, defensive ability, rebounding. He checks a lot of boxes.

In Derrick White? Not really.

I like him as a PG next to a playmaking wing like Luka, Harden or LeBron but White is not creative enough offensively to shoulder the PG playmaking responsibilities by himself. Similar to Marcus Smart in this respect.

Why would Murray be available? Very good youngish player on a great contract. He would be ideal for the Cs

Either or both. Yes.

I could definitely see connections to Ime's coaching and development leading to one of those guys getting traded to the Cs.

Indeed. I still remember Murray sealing a regular season game last year by picking Kemba's pocket and going to the other end for a layup.

This is a Zach Harper rumor. Take with a grain.  Doubt it's a very credible source. Sorry if I am getting up hopes here.

Spurs are ready to perform a full tear-down finally, and are selling off?

Murray shot 31% from 3 last year 5.4 assists

Smart shot 33%, 5.7 assists

Not really an upgrade.

I'd do Murray and Vessell for Smart and Edwards and a 1st. I still think Vassell is going to be a player and they are both signed long-term. Smart is expiring and Edwards needs a new start.

Except Murray shot half the amount of threes Smart did, shot 5% better from the field, rebounds at double the rate, turns it over less, fouls less and played better defence last year.

Wow! That's a serious regression. I hadn't checked in on him lately. His year three he was near 37% from 3 but he took a big step back.

That does change the picture a little...

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but we'd probably have to give up Langford or another 1st to get Vassell

Murray perhaps is ‘available’, but R.C Buford isn’t giving him up for anything less then a potential young star and/or a high lottery pick. I have always been a huge fan of Dejounte’s but he is also a huge injury risk on top of being highly valued by San Antonio.
