Barry Jackson: Aldridge opting for Nets is a stunner. Heat expected to add him and had received indications there was good chance of it happening. Heat will continue to look for help in buyout market

LMA screwed MIA who thought he was coming there and will screw BKN if this is true.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Aldridge is expected to see a significant amount of his minutes at center for the Nets.

He can't guard a chair.

I guess the Nets have just totally given up on defense the rest of the way and plan to try to outscore everyone.

Surprised.  I thought he would actually play meaningful minutes in Miami.

Dieng to Miami then?

Well if Brooklyn gets "every" buyout candidate then at least other teams won't get them. Maybe that's their logic as they laugh at the rest of us.

KO is starting for the Rockets tonight. Looks like there’s no buyout coming?

Looks like Drummond will likely up with the Fakers unless something miraculous happens. LeBum and Co are pushing him hard to sign with them

The buyout phenomenon is massively annoying and is emblematic of the fact that three cities — New York, Los Angeles, and Miami — are running huge advantages in an age where players have so much control over where they play.

It’s not uncommon for players who are traded to play with their new team for a week or two before getting bought out.  It gives a potential free agent a chance to establish a relationship with a club.  Maybe it works well enough that they don’t want to get bought out, or gives them an idea they might circle back to each other in free agency, either the following summer or in the future.  Same thing is true from the team’s assessment.  The guys getting bought out this weekend are the ones who weren’t traded — wait a couple weeks for the ones who were.

Oh well he can bring his empty stats to the Lakers, definitely not the most impactful signing in their franchises history

Bought out players want to win titles.  The Cavs pretty consistently signed buy out players during the Lebron/Irving/Love years.  The simple reality is both teams in LA, the Nets, and the Heat are all very good teams with a shot at the title.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Thanks for clearing that up.

If we pick up another player I hope it's a shooter!
