Per ESPN:

Quote
Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams -- who'll be a restricted free agent this summer -- had surgery on his left hand Friday that is expected to have him fully recovered for the start of NBA training camp in the fall, sources told ESPN.

The surgery, considered successful, comes after Williams hurt the hand in March. Williams decided to continue playing with the injury through the Celtics' run to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Celtics, very consistently, don't let out information if they don't want it out.

I wonder if this is why he disappeared from the rotation late in the season.

Possible, is is why, but why not disclose it, it is not like Grant hand being hurt is going to be a big intel secret that hurt us against other teams.   Teams already attack on the defensive end.

I think this comes from Grant’s agent to help explain his poor postseason in advance of free agency.

I wonder if this is why he disappeared from the rotation late in the season.

He was also dealing with an elbow or forearm strain in February and March.  Per the Athletic, that is better now, but he might have been dealing with both for awhile.

The Athletic also says he reinjured the hand in the conference finals.

Apologies to Grant for my criticism .

You can’t play basketball at this level compete with hurt fingers , hands or wrists.

I ve felt like Jaylens poor play turnovers is due to arm/hand /wrist issues

Too many guys banged up to win it all .

He had surgery.  It helps explain that he had a surgery.

lol, yeah.

Celtics2021, are you saying Grant faked having surgery as cover for being dropped out of the rotation?

My question isn’t about why Grant needed hand surgery, but rather why Tatum has not?

Didn’t he fracture his left wrist during the playoffs last season? He injured it again this season, didn’t he? It bothered him the rest of the year didn’t it?

Sounds like something that should be considered, doesn’t it? Even if the decision is that given time it will heal on its own?

Grant was definitely dealing with stuff in the 2nd half of the season, including the elbow/shoulder.

No, I thought you were suggesting there was a “reason” the Celtics released this now, and I was just commenting that I thought the release came from his agent not the Celtics.

I would wager there’s some truth to that.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.
