Been saying this for years, we need a legit big man if we goin win a title….Al is old & Williams injury prone & not a scoring threat..

This organization doesn’t believe in “ the big man” theory of basketball.  The tall man is never your big money guy . Ended with KG.

What team does?

Philly? Minny? Other than Jokic, it’s not really working out for teams.

The game has shifted away from an emphasis on post play. Now it’s about penetration and distance shooting.

Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, AD, Sabonis, Adebayo and now Wembanyama coming in, the game has already shifted back to a big man's league.

Jokic and Wembenyama are hardly typical bigs. Jokic is like a tubby 7' version of Larry Bird, and Wembenyama is physically unique. The other guys that you listed only have 2 rings between them, and AD was not the dominant player on that title team.

I think it's overly simplistic to say it has shifted "back" to being dominated by bigs. The 2 best players in the world happen to be big, but the Finals last year featured no star big men. I don't know that there is some one size fits all approach.

They are big men by any definition. It's just that big men have evolved and are now multi skilled players who can shoot from distance and handle the ball. They are no longer just tall guys who operate in the post.

Tatum shot 121 threes late in the shot clock, outside of those he shot around 38% from behind the arc. He makes 42.4% of his wide open 3s and 37% of the open 3s, but also takes 3.2 tightly contested 3s a game and shoots 30.2% on those.

Quote
Quick additional context: only Klay took more contested 3s this year, and of the 80 players tops in attempts, Tatum was in the bottom 10ish. Easily the worst EFG% in the league on such attempts and they make up a surprisingly high percentage (~15% if I remember correctly) of his total shot profile.

Interesting Tatum stats on his threes
