Is he ready?  Begarin?   If not, will they ever be?  Who is more likely?

Begarin has better physical tools, but seemingly cannot shoot nor score efficiently at all. He is still only 20, but I really wish we'd picked Garza, Bassey or Sims.

Not sure about Yam. He's just turned 22, and we seem to rate JD Davison quite highly. He was also drafted all the way back in 2020. Again, wish we'd picked Paul Reed instead.

I didn't like the selection of either at the time, and nothing since has made that dislike go away.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

We could really use a small quick guard. I hope either Yam or JD works out.

Joe would probably not play him

Could we? I doubt Joe goes away from the 3 big guard rotation

Sounds like he’s not coming here this year, but Fenerbahce is an additional step up from his current team.  It will keep helping his development.

It would be nice to have a quick ball-handler. Someone who can drive. Drive and dish. Drive and finish. Payton's ball-handling has been disappointing. One of the weaker ball-handlers in the league. He is only really a spot up shooter.

This is why I want JD Davison. He can bring those handles and driving ability. Give us a different option in the backcourt if things aren't working right.

I feel with Pritchard his shooting is his calling card but we can get that from Hauser and not have as big of a defensive liability on the floor as Pritchard is. Hauser is just a better option. There are very few instances when he isn't.

I believe a ball-handling driving quick PG gives us better options off the bench as 3rd string PG than Pritchard does.

Madar is a real point guard in the sense that he’s creative, and a sharp passer. He’s also a dog on defense. I just wonder about his physical tools, which might be adequate to compete in Europe, but not necessarily in the more physical NBA. I wonder if he can put on some additional muscle, for instance, to a least build some strength and avoid getting bullied on defense.

NO and NO is the answer or they would be here.   But congrats on the award to Yam.  Both him and Begarin were wild swings for glory.

I think our scouting is suspect.  We should have drafted  Kenyon Martin Jr , taken at 52 over Yam at 47 and kept Desmond Bane who is better than Pritchard.   Another Austin Ainge special.  We took Nesmith that year as our pick.  So that ought to speak volumes as to how well that draft went.  This draft hurt us badly.   In 2021 we should have taken Jericho Sims over Begarin as well.  Sims is in the NBA would haved helped out depth in terms of bigs  The 2019 draft stinks as well.  I mean Grant over Nic Claxton.  Drafting well matters, we have a poor record outside the top 10 picks under Austin Ainge.    I know hindsight is 20/20 but how many mistakes does a guy get before we move on?  We should offer the MIA scout a 1 million dollar raise to find us some gems.

These guys may pan out Yam has a better chance as his skill is higher.  Begarin seems unwilling to put in effort to shoot and Yam avoids the three as well.
