I was looking back at this, asking myself in hindsight who I'd draft over Romeo.  At the time, I was high on Nassir Little in that spot.  He hasn't made me look good.  But really, what a mediocre draft.  A lot of people were hoping for Clarke and Thybulle, and in hindsight, that probably would have been a solid return.

Yeah they draft also looks way worse than a year ago with morants continued problems off the court and serious questions about zions durability/long term future. The best guy in hindsight would have been Claxton but he was not in discussion for our picks

"Mediocre" is certain the apt term to describe it.

I remember when Zion was seen as LeBum's second coming.

In hindsight, Grant was a very solid pick.

Reportedly Celtics draft room screamed "Nooooooooooooo" when Heat grabbed Herro one pick earlier.  Guess they assumed he'd fall to them.

Yep.  That one hurt.  But, maybe if Herro is here we never get DWhite.

There was some talk that Ainge might still be after Herro and trying to land him in a three team deal with MIA & POR over Lillard. That would be interesting. Utah and Herro would be a good fit for one another.

I would have gone NAW over Romeo. Grant was a guy I wanted out of college, as was Little. Wanted Eric Paschall over Carsen Edwards

Agreed. He just stunk it up in the Puerto Rican league most recently. He'll always have a place in my heart, like Jared Sullinger (who is unstoppable in China!)

Kevin Porter Jr is a headcase but a great talent.  Nic Claxton turned out decent.  Both could have been had but we missed the boar.   An Austin Ainge special.

Outside of the first 5 picks (and not Hunter), Claxton might be the best player in that draft.  That is sad.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Figures….Ainge’s hoarded picks come to fruition in one of the worst drafts. 4 picks SMH
