Seems awfully quiet on the Aaron Rodgers - Jets front.

I don't know much about how the cap works for the NFL. Is there a down side to converting salary into bonus money to free up cap for this year? Teams do it all the time and it seems pretty advantageous for everyone involved. Does it push the cap hit into the future?

Yes.  Let's say you have a 9 million dollar amount for this year and they agree to turn it into a bonus (with an extra money to be this years base salary)

So the player still gets the same money this year, but the team prorates the 9 million over the length of the contract.   So if there was three years left, instead of 9 million on the cap this year, it becomes 3 million this year, 3 million next year and 3 million the last year.

Basically trading cap space in the future (where the cap goes up) for cap space now.

TP. I figured it was a move it forward situation, but wasn't sure of the details. Thanks a bunch.

Dolphins are converting Tyreek Hill’s $10 million roster bonus and $16 million salary into a $24.835 million bonus and an $1.165 million salary, saving the team about $18 million against their salary cap, per sources.
creating cap room.  teams do it all of the time, now what they are going to use it for is interesting.

Yeah, the first part was blatantly apparent.
NFL teams should always create cap room when they can do so with basically no downside.

Dolphins are picking up Tua's 5th year option. He's their QB going forward

If the Jets are trading draft picks and picking up Aaron Roger's contract, then why not spend that similar capital on Lamar Jackson, who has a ton of football left in him. With Roger's, I'm not sure if he'll play for just one more season or two. The guy is on another planet mentally.

One of Belichick's best draft picks.  He took a lot of crap for drafting a kid out of Rutgers in the first round.

A cornerstone of dynasty 2.0.

Dang, that's sad. He was such a reliable constant

He’s their QB if he can stay healthy. He prob won’t stay healthy. I bet they’re QB shopping within a year.

Solid return for the Bears, esp when there’s so much uncertainty about who is going to be a good QB.

I wouldn’t take Bryce young over Stroud. I think Stroud should be the pick.

Bears can still draft Jalen Carter at 9.

That's not a bad haul at all.   You just need to hit on the picks and hope CAR doesn't go gangbusters next season.

Great haul for the Bears..I really don’t like any of the QBs this year but Richardson May be the best with Levis behind him..I not sold on Young or Stroud
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
