Interesting discussion on one of the national talk shows about the Chiefs and if they win would they count as a dynasty.

Over the last 5 years they'd have 2 Super Bowl wins, 1 Super Bowl loss, and 2 AFC Title game losses (both in OT).  Never worse than 12 wins and 5 straight division titles.  They have the best QB in the sport, a top 2 coach in the sport (and arguably a top 10 coach all time), HOFers at other key positions (Kelce, Jones, etc.).

Obviously the hesitation is just 2 SB wins, when I think most people think of at least 3 as a dynasty.

So in the modern NFL, if the Chiefs win are they a dynasty?
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Not yet BUT they’d definitely be close and make a real case if they reach the SB any of the next two seasons (regardless if they win it or not).

If Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL don’t win the Stanley Cup this season, do we think the Lightning are a modern dynasty? They’ve won two of the last three

Three chips out of six years is minimum for a dynasty. No chips is just a run. Two even back to back isn't a dynasty, you need three chips.

They are having a good run right now is all.

Being a dynasty requires more than that. Which is why the Patriots are the only dynasty in this century, earning such status twice.

If Dee Ford doesn't line up off sides, Kansas City would have beaten the Patriots and most likely would've won the Superbowl against the Rams. That would mean, the Chiefs would be trying to win their 3rd Superbowl in 5 years.

No. Try repeating first, and then try winning it 3 of your last 4 seasons.

I can't come to see myself root for the filthy Eagles, but I seriously don't want the Chiefs to win either. Hard pick for me.

Two titles, especially if they're not back to back, isn't enough for a dynasty.

I think if you win 3 out of the last 5 you can be classed as a dynasty.

Yes. I would consider it a dynasty for a period of sustained winning success. They have 3 Super Bowl appearances, 2 Super Bowl titles (assuming they win this week), 5 division titles, and high double digit wins every year. Think they have had the most success out of any team in the NFL over that time period and are the good standard in the league currently. And it is still ongoing so they can improve.

Well, Dee Ford did line up off sides.

There’s “what ifs” in almost every game.
We can go play that “what if” game with their first superbowl and give the win to 49ers

Come on now.  No, they weren't.

To me, a dynasty involves at least four SB wins.  I consider a "mini-dynasty" to include three titles in a short period of time, like six years.

Two titles?  Nope, unless we're ready to talk about the Eli Manning Giants dynasty.

the NFL is not the same as the other sports.  No "team" has won 4 Super Bowl since the Steelers won 4 in 6 years in the 70's.  I mean the Patriots had 10 years between the 3rd and 4th title, that can't count as a continuation and thereby the Patriots weren't even a dynasty by that definition (which is obviously a strange argument to make).

And the Giants may have won 2 SB's in 5 seasons, but they missed the playoffs twice and lost in the divisional round the 3 years in between.  Not anywhere near the same thing as the Chiefs.
