Adam Himmelsbach: According to a league source, the Celtics have picked up Payton Pritchard’s 2023-24 team option. – via Twitter AdamHimmelsbach

Feel like Pritchard is going to be traded. C’s just don’t have minutes for him when you have Brown, Smart, White and Brogdon absorbing all of the minutes at the guard positions. Boston also just drafted Davison(another PG) who is a a better athlete and will likely be superior defensively.

I don’t expect Pritchard to be on the opening day roster next year, but he’s cheap this season and has shown he can perform when in the rotation, so there’s no urgency to trade him.  He’s certainly a candidate to be moved at the deadline if there’s a team interested in him, however.

Utah, Maybe? Danny obviously thought highly enough of Pritchard to select him in the first round. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Jazz dealt a few of their guards at/before the deadline this season and several have team or player options for next year.
With what has happened at Utah this season, if we traded PP there he'd probably become Mark Price 2.0

Hahaha! What a job Will Hardy has done there. That’s another what if scenario for the Cs. Would he have been a better fit than Joe?

Was Hardy hired before or after the C’s found out about Ime?

Hardy was hired in late June; the Ime investigation began in mid-July, I think.

Thought they found out about Ime’s inappropriate relationship sometime in June, though.

No, mid-July was what was reported.

That’s when the investigation took place. That’s not when they found out about the inappropriate relationship.

The new information that Charania presented last week adds slightly more clarity to Udoka’s reported inappropriate remarks. Charania says the relationship was originally presented to ownership as consensual, and the Celtics moved on with their offseason. “ “They were told everything was good between the two sides. That it was a consensual relationship,” said Charania. “This wasn’t a topic that anybody within the Celtics was worried about.”

So how did we get from this “not being a topic that anybody within the Celtics was worried about” to a one-season suspension? Charania says the woman told the Celtics a few weeks ago about Udoka’s unwanted advances, prompting the team to launch an investigation.

What Shams says is not inconsistent with the mid-July timeline that the Celtics put out there.  They said they found out about the relationship in July, and the investigation took some “twists and turns” in the final weeks.  That’s consistent with the team being told of “unwanted advances” a few weeks ago (where a few weeks ago was late August or early September given this was late September reporting.

In the interim: League sources say that Udoka’s season-long suspension from the Celtics, imposed because of a relationship with a female co-worker that Boston officials deemed a violation of team rules, called for him to forfeit half of his estimated $4 million salary. The Celtics declined comment when asked by The Stein Line to confirm those specific stipulations of the suspension. – via Marc Stein @ marcstein.substack.com

We got the exception for Gallinari. Do we wait and see who falls to the ground or move forward fast and use it?

Any word on the personal reasons for Luke's absence? Wonder if he lost a family member. Certainly hope not.

Whiteside for the DPE seems like a low risk move. But of course there must be a reason why he’s still a free agent at this time of the year. He seemed like a good soldier for Utah last year though.

Whiteside wouldn’t require the DPE.  He’s a minimum player.

Any news on Brogdon’s injury? I hope he doesn’t miss time. It was reported as “right hamstring tightness” during the game and I couldn’t see any updates post game.

I bet they’ll rest him Friday on the first half of the back-to-back.
