ESPN’s Tim McManus reported on Thursday that the longtime Patriots assistant[Matt Patricia] is joining the Philadelphia Eagles as a senior defensive assistant.

Best news I’ve heard today. Thank god.

It's gotta be great to be a coach of any kind in professional sports, because no matter how bad you are at your job, there's always some sucker ready to give you another chance.

He will probably be a fine defensive assistant but I am happy he is no longer the Patriots offensive coordinator.  I have no ill will for him though, he was asked to do something he simply was not qualified to do.  That is more on Belichick than Patricia.

I am more concerned with all the weird statements or lack of statements regarding Mac Jones.  I am starting to think that the plan (between Belichick and O'Brien) is to move on from him.  O'Brien referenced a clean slate.  I am starting to think that a clean slate for O'Brien is going to be a different QB.

I am not totally against changing QBs but I don't feel they are handling all this very well.  What I see in Jones is a good not great QB.  It was tough for him last season with a bad line and a bad scheme but I feel he still showed some weaknesses, some limitations.

Any guesses for who the Patriots will draft this year? Looks like they have 11 picks.

I'd like to see a trade down to get a round swap or two later.
Draft Dawand Jones in the 26 to 32 range. The offensive line is biggest need of a retool. With both starting OTs being below average and the starting C missing time each year for smaller injuries. Pats got to really load up.

The Pats early round need list for me is
OT
CB
DL

Later rounds
WR
LB
S
TE

Fantastic pick belichick. We got the best corner in the draft. I would have been happy if we moved up to 10 to get him. Awesome. I was so upset when he was on the board and Bill traded down.

Yeah, I’m psyched. Really happy to have a talented CB with size.
