Draft Day!

I'm unlocking now. I'll try to update in real time (at least the first round) tonight.

As always, if you want to go back and see how right or how wrong you were in prior draft threads, we have a consolidation of past draft threads going back to the 2008 draft.

Adrian Wojnarowski: As team boards finalize today, the 1-2-3 of the NBA Draft is increasingly firm, per sources: Jabari Smith to Orlando, Chet Holmgren to Oklahoma City and Paolo Banchero to Houston. – via Twitter wojespn

There’s going to be a lot of 4/5’s on Orlando…

Doubt I watch this too closely since C's do not have a 1st round pick.  However, a lots of things happen on Draft Night, including trades.  Would love to see the C's acquire a future pick somehow.

Interesting that you say this, report says they could be shopping for a 1st:  https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2022/06/payton-pritchard-grant-williams-available-in-celtics-trade-talks-for-the-right-price-report.html

I haven’t studied the draft a ton this year, but if we do acquire a late 1st, a couple of guys I’d be interested in are:
1. Dalen Terry (Arizona): Guard with wing size/length. Good defender. Plays hard. Seems to have shooting/playmaking potential. I think he’s a good bet to outperform his draft slot.
2. Christian Koloko (Arizona): Long-term backup to Rob at the 5. Tons of athletic potential. Seems very similar to me to Mark Williams (likely lottery pick). Just rawer and probably needs more time to develop.
3. Jaden Hardy (G League): Pure upside play for a guy that was a big-time scorer/shooter in HS and then had a down year last year.

Jaden Ivey, Keegan Murray and Mathurin will have teams saying "why didn't we draft him instead of...." in about 3 years.

As for the Celtics, here's to hoping they somehow land Nembhard (plug 'n play guard) in a trade up or a talented player like Josh Minot. Also wouldn't mind at pick 53 are Alabama-Afro, Jabari Walker, David Roddy or Keon Ellis.

That seems crazy- GW for late first? Without him, we lose to the Bucks.

Perhaps wary of the kind of money he'll command in free agency? He is also a very flawed player. If we could get a shot at Nikola Jovic or Tari Eason just giving up G-Will I jump on that in a heartbeat. No more rebounds dropped or dribbles fumbled.

One thing I neglected to mention earlier.  Not everyone has access to Twitter or wants to be on Twitter during the draft.
So please, no spoilers. Please don't tip things before they happen on TV.

And a couple of anorexic looking tall guys on OKC.

Haha and it all comes full circle. That would be fun.
