As a Zags fan that performance was pathetic. They looked scared to death out there. Strawther was a complete bum the past 2 games making dumb decision after dumb decision. And the refs missed a few crucial calls down the stretch (the missed trip, the step out of bounds, multiple bad calls on Holmgren).
Disappointed is an understatement..
Can you explain why the Zags coach didn’t feature Holmgren more on offense? Dude shot over 60% from the field and 39% from 3pt. He finished the season 3rd in total shot attempts and was only 9 ahead of Strawther. Timme attempted 396 field goals to Holmgren’s 280. Chet was also 4th on the team in 3pt shot attempts, even though he had the second highest percentage of makes from deep.
Honestly Mark Few has been 2020 Brad Stevens all year. Hes let the wings and guards take some straight up terrible shots all year long and hasnt lit into their behinds about it. Late in the season they lost on the road to St Marys and it was just brick after brick being thrown up by the likes of Nimrod and Strawther while Timme and Holmgren each were in single figure FGA. Which makes no sense when they are probably the best frontcourt duo in the nation, youd figure they would feature them.
Same thing with the scare against Memphis, they almost let Strawther shoot them out of the game until Timme went super saiyan in the 2nd half and Nimrod hit some clutch free throws. Round 1 against GA st is how they shouldve played every single game, get the ball in the post to either Timme or Holmgren and get the heck out the way lol.
