People call him a flopper because he is. At least once a week I saw him go down, only to look at the refs because the refs swallowed the whistle because he was flopping. He draws a bunch of real offensive fouls, but he picks up a lot on flops too.

He was an absurd flopper in his first few years but I agree he's toned it down a lot in the last couple of years. Really, he's just learned to do it more realistically, which is normal and desirable for a key defensive guy.

Anyone ever get into a conversation about the Celtics or Marcus smart with fans of other teams and they go into a rant about Marcus smart being a flopper? I haven't seen the man consistently flop in years. He takes charges

Because he is

But it's ok because he's OUR flopper
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Smarts flopping used to be off the charts. He’s definitely toned it down a ton.

Because he is?

Smaller players who are great defenders almost to a man all flop, because it works. The same goes for great offensive players who get to the line a lot.

He's definitely found a better balance between his flop attempts the past two years, he used to go to that well too often.

Reminds me of when Big Baby first got into the league, he'd get called for blocks on clear charges because he didn't fall down like players typically due because he was 300+ and built like a defensive tackle.

Part of the normal maturation and learning curve in the league. (also the refs give you calls because they respect you after a few years, but that aspect annoys the crap out of me)

He flops. He's my favorite player in the NBA and he deserved his All Defense selection (and deserved one last year, too) but yeah, he flops.
